Kelsey shrugged. "He better be.”
"You remember where you were staying?”
“Yeah, the Hive.”
It was another place for digital nomads just down the street. She told me her boyfriend’s name, and I used the room phone to call the Hive. The clerk answered in a cheery tone, and I asked her to connect me with Troy Watson’s room.”
Her fingers danced across the keyboard, then she said, “Just a moment. I’ll connect you.”
I handed the receiver to Kelsey.
Troy answered after a few rings. “Hello?”
“Baby,” Kelsey said, the tears flowing.
“Kelsey? Where are you?”
“I need you to come get me.” She looked at me. “Where am I?”
“The Bamboo Lofts.”
She relayed the information. “These guys saved me.”
“Tell him to meet you in the lobby,” I said.
She relayed the information and told him to hurry.
When she ended the call, I showed her Isabella’s and Hannah’s pictures on my phone. “Do you recall seeing either of them?”
28
"No. Sorry," Kelsey said with a frown. "I don't remember much of anything."
It was understandable.
I removed the IV, and Kelsey attempted to stand. I steadied her. She was a little wobbly at first, but was able to make her way to the bathroom. She spent a few minutes there cleaning herself up and taming the rat’s nest that her hair had turned into.
I didn't think it was a good idea for JD and me to step into the common areas. I had Brooke escort her down to the lobby. Kelsey thanked us before she left, then I watched the two walk down the corridor to the elevator.
"This has turned into a shit show," JD said after I closed the door. "We've got every cop in town looking for us. And I think it's safe to say that Caspian Vorn has a lot of influence around here.”
Talia called. “I’ve got a location on Caspian. This guy is so brazen, he’s not even using a burner.”
“Where’s he at?”
“Another villa. I’ll text you the location.”
“We have one minor problem,” I said.
I filled her in on our drama with the police. “We need another place to stay. Some place that takes cash, preferably.”
“I’ll see what I can find.”
“Let me know if Caspian’s phone moves.”
“Will do,” she said before ending the call.
Caspian’s location buzzed my phone a moment later.
