“I didn’t mean my head.”

“Neither did I,” he said, and he wrapped his free hand around the other side of my jaw. “I was waiting for you to tell me you wanted me. I didn’t want to put any pressure on you or to make you think that you owed me something.”

“That’s stupid.”

He laughed. “Yeah, well.”

“And then you decided to flirt with me in front of Ms. Dorian?”

Micah blushed, just a little, and his fingers tensed on my neck. “Watching you talk to Theo, watching you talk and laugh with people… Look, I’m not a possessive person. But I…”

I licked my lips. “But you want me.”

He laughed and bent his forehead to mine. “Yeah.”

“Well. Just so there’s no doubt? I want you, too.”

Micah grinned. “You going home?”

I’m going wherever you’re going.“Yeah. I’m, uh, off until tomorrow afternoon. You?”

“I’ve gotta get back to the booth for a bit,” he sighed. “I’m so tired of these damn festivals. Farmer’s markets, the spring… thing.”

“Lilac Day,” I supplied.

“That’s the one. They all blend together.”

I’d been thinking the exact same thing earlier, but suddenly I had a new fondness for the stupid, unending festivals that had set Micah across the aisle from me.

“They’re each unique and vastly different,” I informed him. “Vastly.”

“Enlighten me.”

“I couldn’t possibly. You’d need to stick around O’Leary long enough to appreciate the differences yourself.”

“Just so I understand, a Ross is telling me to stick around O’Leary?”

I grinned. “This Ross is.”

His mouth hovered over mine and I wanted him to kiss me again—soft, slow, hard, fast, however the fuck he wanted. But instead, he murmured against my lips.

“You know, it’s been a while since I was at The Hive.”

I frowned. “Uh. Okay?”

“Not since the time I was there with you.”

“Oh.” I blinked. “Me neither.”

“Yeah? Meet me there tonight, then? Around eight.”

My pulse raced. My breath caught. “Imightconsider it. If I don’t get any better offers.”

I could feel his responding grin against my lips. “Still deluded, Constantine,” he whispered.

But I was thinking that maybe for the first time in weeks, I was starting to see things clearly.
