I give Trent an inquisitive look, wondering what he has planned and what’s so secretive that we have to sneak in the back door of a fancy restaurant.

“After you.” Trent sweeps his hands in a grand gesture, and I start up the stairs, glancing back at him. His eyes are directly on my ass, so I give it an extra shake as a tease. Trent chuckles lowly and swats me on the ass.

“Hey!”

“Keep walking, Ki. We’re almost there.”

We reach the platform for the second floor, and the door is shut. I try to open it, but it won’t budge.

“It’s locked, but I have the key,” Trent says.

“Why do you have a key to this door?”

He inserts said key into the lock, and twists it until I hear the click of the door unlocking. He pushes it open and says, “Me and Adam own this as well.”

I whistle, staring at him. “No wonder you can afford an expensive bracelet.”

He rolls his eyes and grabs my hand, dragging me into the room and… Wow.

Wow.

Tears burn my eyes, and I can’t believe that he did this for me. For us.

“This is so much better than any overpriced food,” I remark, taking in my surroundings.

There’s a single table in the center with flowers in a vase as a centerpiece. Fairy lights cover every square inch, giving off an ethereal look. I feel like I’ve been transported to another dimension.

“I’m glad it’s up to your standards.” He keeps a hold of my hand and gently moves me to my seat, pulling it out and then scooting me in to make sure I’m comfortable.

I don’t know what I did to deserve this. But I’m so glad it’s Trent I’m here with. “I don’t even know what to say.”

He sits down across from me. The fresh smell of flowers fill the space between us.

“This is too much.”

“Didn't you say I had to grovel?” His pouty lips tilt up into a smirk, raising the crystal glass of water to his mouth.

“I did say that…” I trail off. I just wanted him to think I wouldn’t give in easily to him. Which is a freaking joke, because here I am across from him, basking in his attention. “But I didn’t expect all this.” I wave my hand around in front of me, gesturing to the exuberance around me.

“Freckles, I want you to look at me when I say this. I want you to know how serious I am.”

I focus on Trent’s eyes, the deep brown lighting up with the fairy lights.

“I love you, and I will do whatever it takes so you know that no matter what room you walk into, you’re the most important person in there. You deserve nothing but the best, and I’m going to provide that for you. I don’t care if you keep doing OnlyFans, if you need to jet off across the country for a photoshoot. As long as you’re in my bed, I’ll be the happiest man alive. Knowing that no matter how many times I’ve fucked up, you’ve still found your way home to me.”

I try to speak but he cuts me off, grabbing my left hand across the table and pressing a kiss to my ring finger.

“And one day, I hope you’ll find me worthy enough to wear my ring on your finger, to pledge your life to me as I will do to you.”

Well dang, how am I supposed to say no to all that he’s promising me? I can’t, that’s the simple answer. He’s messed up, but as he sits in front of me, he’s not the same man that he was before. He’s so much better. He’s grown and changed and progressed into somebody who wants to be able to deserve me.

After all this, the failed relationships with our parents, being two homeless teens just trying to find a place in this world, two men who want each other but don’t know how to fight for their relationship. They all brought us here, and no matter the heartbreak and sorrow we’ve gone through, we’re stronger together.

“It’s you and me Trent, forever,” I say sincerely, choking on the words and trying to get them out past the lump in my throat.

He takes a swig of his water, and eyes me over his cup. “So does that mean I can call you my boyfriend now?” His smirk lightens the mood and I roll my eyes playfully. He just told me he wantsme to wear his ring, be his husband, but he still has to ask a question like that?

“I’d be mad if you didn’t.” I remark easily and his smile is bright. It sets my soul on fire and makes everything feel right again in the world.
