“Where on earth are you? I’m nearly in cardiac arrest, you know. Are you okay?” My sister’s voice is high and sharp with worry.

“Yes. Yes, I’m fine. I’m sorry. I just… slept over with a friend.”

“You slept with Troy?” She sounds flabbergasted.

“No. Not Troy. I’m… at Blake’s house. And I’m fine. Everything’s fine. You getting ready for church?”

I walk out of the room, partially for privacy, partially to avoid Blake’s interested gaze. I’m completely naked and not accustomed to being exposed to a man’s view in the bright light of morning.

Entering the kitchen, I open a cabinet, searching for coffee.

Kenley lets out a long breath. “About to. I just… I can hardly believe this. You never get serious about anyone. And you’ve nevernotcome home before.”

“Maybe I’ve never felt like this before,” I whisper.

A girlish giggle escapes me, shocking me and no doubt my sister as well.

“That does it. I’m meeting this guy. Tonight. No excuses.”

A pause. “I don’t know.”

“What is the matter with you? Is there something wrong with him? Oh God—he’s not married is he?”

“No. And he’s not forty-five either,” I say before she can think to ask it. “Fine. I’ll ask if he wants to come over tonight after work. You can meet him and give him the big sister once-over.”

I just hope he won’t giveherthe once-over. Or a double-take.

“Good. Do you need me to come pick you up and bring you home?”

“No. He’ll give me a ride home on his way to work. At the station. Where Ialsowork—oh God, that’s going to be awkward, isn’t it?”

My hand comes to my forehead, and the cabinet door closes with a soft click.

“Fraternizing. My friend Heidi would approve. And I have no room to judge in that department. Okay. I’ll see you tonight, then. Love you.”

“You too. Bye Kens.”

A pair of large warm hands covers my eyes from behind, and a very large, and very aroused male body presses against my backside.

“Guess who?” he whispers in my ear.

“Hmm… let me see? Could it be… Frank?” I joke, using my rotund boss’s name.

Blake releases me, and I turn around, laughing. He couldn’t look any less like Frank if they were different species. In fact, seeing his fit and muscular physique in the light of day, I’m ready to head right back into the bedroom.

Blake mimes a knife to the heart. “You have mortally wounded my ego. Eventhismight not be able to survive such an insult.”

He nods down at his arousal, which is clearly oblivious to whatever insult may have occurred.

I step toward him, reaching down between us to grasp the hot hardness.

Looking Blake in the eye, I grin. “He’s a big boy. I think he can handle it.”

Blake presses his forehead to mine, drawing me against his body with a little groan.

“Youare certainly welcome to handle it. Anytime. Did I hear someone say she needed aridethis morning?” His breathing is audible and fast.

I snicker, pressing kisses against his warm chest. “Why? Are you offering?”
