Collin shuddered. He let go of his posture and gripped his master’s legs with both his hands, burying his face between Mr. Reevesworth’s legs. How embarrassed was it possible to be?

“Do you need to safe word, Collin?”

“No, sir.” Collin shook his head. He couldn’t help but notice the outline of Mr. Reevesworth’s hard cock. “I just really, really hope you don’t get tired of me because I’m really, really scared.”

“Remember what I did to you in the shower when I cleaned you inside and out?”

“Yes, sir.”

“If I had told you everything I was about to do to you then, would you have been scared?”

“Yes, sir.”

“Was it easier when I didn’t tell you?”

“Yes, sir.”

“Why?”

“Because…” Collin swallowed, collecting his thoughts. “In the moment, it felt right. I only had to deal with one thing at a time, and you didn’t give me any room to think. At least not once you put those things in my nose!” Collin scowled, lifting his face.

Mr. Reevesworth smiled, fingers caressing Collin’s face. “The nose hook was effective, wasn’t it?”

“So that’s what they’re called?”

“Yes. And I will use them on you in the future. They centered you very well.”

Collin huffed. “I trust you, sir. I’m sure I’m terrible at this, but you aren’t. And if you want me, then I’m trusting that too because I don’t want to run. I want to be yours. I just can’t… I can’t do it, not by myself.”

“You’re not meant to do it. Especially by yourself. Ever.” Mr. Reevesworth’s voice was firm and dark, yet his hands were gentle. “Taking you there, to that place inside of you where you are all those things is my concern and my responsibility, Collin. You cannot be submissive if I do not earn your submission. You can’t reach surrender unless I wring that surrender out of you. So, of course, you cannot do what I am asking, not until that moment, not unless I am what I say I am. Do you see? Half of what I will ask you for cannot even be contemplated when you are in the headspace of day-to-day life. You have to become a different creature. And my honor and responsibility is to train that into you, to make you something you can’t yet imagine.”

Collin gazed up at his master, shaking. “That’s why you messed with my head, put me on display like that for Damian and Mr. Moreau in the kitchen when I was a kitten. Told them to…touch me.”

“Yes. And because you are absolutely beautiful struggling between your shame and your desire to please.”

Collin’s cheeks tingled, and he blinked back embarrassed tears. “I hated it, but I also liked it.”

“If you didn’t struggle with it, would you like it as much?”

Collin rolled that thought over in his head. “I—I don’t think so, sir. Afterwards, I felt wild. Free, and yet I was still yours. But I don’t know how to get there except through everything else.”

Mr. Reevesworth nodded. “It’s the gateway.”

Mr. Reevesworth insisted on rest for the remainder of the day. Collin confirmed flights with Alice, napped, studied, and then cooked dinner. In the morning, as they prepared to leave for the office, text messages confirmed Mr. Moreau was on his way home from Japan. Collin grinned, looking down at his phone screen. He was going to see his Sir again soon, and that made his chest feel lighter. Being away from Mr. Moreau within such a short time span after they had cleared the air had been unsettling, but seeing a text from Mr. Moreau just to him, confirming his return and the Frenchman’s desire to return to see him, felt good down in his bones. He smiled all the way down the elevator and out to the car until Mr. Reevesworth asked him what he was smiling about.

“Mr. Moreau told me he’s coming back, sir.”

“Oh?”

Collin smiled wider. “He texted me. He says we should go shopping in this special market. I don’t recognize it, but he’s planning a dinner for us to cook together.”

Mr. Reevesworth smiled, eyes crinkling up fondly. “He’s missed you. Leaving so quickly was not what he would have planned.”

Collin shrugged, looking back at his phone. “It’s okay, sir. I don’t like to rush things. And feeling this way now, after the break, it makes me know that what I’m feeling is real.”

In the office, there was more than a full complement of staff. Carrie was at the front desk, signing for an early-morning delivery. Eleanor arrived barely after Collin had hung up Mr. Reevesworth’s coat and hat. Ms. Zhou was already in the conference room, ready for Mandarin lessons, so Collin quickly said his goodbyes and slipped away to find Ash.

Ash, however, was not in his lair but down in the new office Mr. Reevesworth had shown Collin that Saturday. He was setting up a monitor and docking station. Today he wore black jeans with a bright deep-blue turtleneck. He had one leather studded belt in the belt loops and another belt that included thigh holsters on both sides. Like before, he was walking around with a small office full of tech on his legs.
