Except, I will never be as well-off as she is. Not only is my baby sister wildly successful, but so is her husband. Preston has more than a billion dollars to his name and more money is constantly flowing in, both from family assets and the companies he’s built from the ground up.

I’m surrounded by people with more money than they know what to do with and I feel ridiculously out of place.

“If you’re sure.” Audrey grins and bumps me with her hip before we sit down. “Thank you for agreeing to watch the house while we’re gone.”

I take another sip of my champagne. “One of the perks of working for myself. Plus, who wouldn’t jump at the chance to spend weeks in your beautiful house?”

Audrey takes my champagne and has a sip. “It’s pretty great. Teddy is so excited about coming with us. He and Preston keep talking about all the things that they’re going to do together. It really has me wondering if I’m going to be on my honeymoon or if it’s just another vacation for my son and husband.”

I laugh and shrug. “You know I would have been more than happy to watch over Teddy while you’re gone. I always miss the little guy when I return home.”

“You’ve spent the last week in our guest room camped out with him. I’m sure that you’re nearly ready for a break.”

“Never.”

Audrey looks around the reception, sitting up a little straighter when the doors open. Her smile grows wider as he strides into the reception like he owns the place.

I roll my eyes. None other then the man who fucked me and left me mere days ago. I understand it was a one night stand for him, but it was a first for me and I didn’t expect it to hurt as much as it did. If I’m being honest with my self, it’s probably because I really liked him.

There is no backward hat or wolfish smile. Only a suit tailored to perfection around his muscled body.

I take a gulp of champagne and shift to the side, hiding my face. I don’t know who he is to them or what on earth he’s doing here.

“Oh good,” Audrey says as she stands up. “Holden is here. We weren’t sure that he was going to be able to make it. He called us yesterday and said he was going to be cutting it close.”

He’s been in town for the last week, just like I have. Why would he lie about something like that?

Anger flows through me. I may not stand up for myself enough, but nobody messes with my baby sister.

“I’m going to go say hello.” Audrey kisses the top of my head. “Love you, Hannah. I’ll come by and see you again before we leave. Save me a dance!”

She weaves through the crowd, her white dress flowing out behind her. I smile as I watch her, trying to beat back the green-eyed monster. Even if I am the tiniest bit jealous of the success Audrey has had in her life, I’m excited for her.

Preston is the kind of man that she’s always wanted. They complement each other well and he loves Teddy as much as she does.

They really couldn’t be a more perfect couple.

“Hello,” A familiar voice murmurs softly, drawing me out of my reverie.

I look up to see the man in the tux standing in front of me. His eyebrows are knit together as he takes the seat beside me.

“Can I help you?” I ask, smoothing the silk skirt of my dress and setting my champagne flute down.

The corner of his mouth tips up in a grin. “So, thats how it’s going to be? And here I thought the both of us could be grown-ups.”

“Grown-ups?” I scoff. “You left me in the middle of the night, no notes, no texts, but I’m the child? After all your talk about being a gentleman, you slipped out while I was asleep. How gentle of you, sir.”

He shrugs and leans back in his chair. “I had my reasons. If I had known that you were going to be at this particular wedding, I never would have gone to your place with you last week. Complicates things.”

“And you just keep making yourself that much more attractive,” I say, my tone dripping with sarcasm.”

“Are you always this snarky, or is this just for me?” he asks, amusement clear in his voice. He arches an eyebrow like he’s waiting for an answer.

I roll my eyes and reach for my champagne, taking a long sip.

“Alright, well, you don’t want to answer that.” He leans back in his chair and crosses his arms. “Are you just another one of the stuck-up billionaire guests here who thinks that everyone else is beneath them?”

“I’m not a billionaire. Although, I’m quite certain you are.”
