Currently, Jaxson was in the kitchen whipping up a couple of burgers, fries, and chicken wings. I was seated on the couch with Jamari’s head in my lap. When we got here, she was still upset. I didn’t know what to do, so I offered her comfort the same way my aunt did whenever I was upset about my dad.

I’d lay in her lap and she’d massage my scalp while humming to me. It was always so soothing and put me right to sleep. It had the same effect on Jamari. I was damn near about to fall asleep myself until I heard Jaxson’s footsteps approaching. I looked up to see him standing there watching us.

“Comfortable?” he asked softly.

I gave him a small smile. “Very. This couch is to die for, you know?”

He chuckled. “Compliments to my sister. She picked it out. The food is almost ready.” He peered down at Jamari. “Thank you for comforting her.”

I gently stroked her hair as I looked at her too. “Unfortunately, I understand this feeling all too well. There were times growing up where I felt like my dad didn’t want me either.I know different now, but at the time, it hurt like hell. I wouldn’t wish that pain on any child.”

Jaxson ran his hand over his head. “I hate this shit for her.”

“I know. But she has you. You just keep showing up for her. It makes a difference. You don’t want her to grow up with daddy issues too. Trust me, it’s no fun.”

He reached out and cupped my chin. “I’m gonna have to introduce you to my father.”

I smiled. “Why?”

“Because he would love you.” Leaning in, he kissed my lips before stooping to Jamari. “Baby girl? Wake up.”

She stirred and her eyes fluttered open. Sitting up, she rubbed them and looked between us.

“How are you feeling?” Jaxson asked.

“I’m okay. I’m hungry.”

“Well, let’s get you some food.”

Cupping her face, he kissed her temple and stood to his feet. We headed into the kitchen where Jamari and I washed our hands and started making our burgers while Jaxson pulled the chicken wings out of the deep fryer. By the time we were done, he had them sauced and was placing them on our plates along with the fries. We gathered at the table where he said a quick prayer before we dug in.

Conversation was light.

I think we were all over the dramatics of the day. When we finished eating, Jamari asked to go to her room and take a nap, but not before giving us a big hug.

“It was so nice to meet you, Ms. Wynter. Thank you for being so nice to me.”

I smiled. “No thanks needed, sweetheart.”

I gave her a squeeze and let her go so she could retreat upstairs. Jaxson and I watched as she disappeared. He turned to me and pulled me into his arms.

“You were really good with her today.”

“She made it easy. And you said she gave you a run for your money.”

He chuckled. “Stick around long enough, love.”

He leaned in and kissed me softly. As he went to pull away, I didn’t let him go. Instead, I kissed him harder… rougher. My body didn’t know how to act around this man. I wanted him so bad. Every time he kissed me, my middle flooded, reminding me that I hadn’t been touched by a man in so long. The thickness pressed against my thigh told me he wanted the same. I had a good enough feel of him to know that he wouldn’t make the first move, though.

“That tip from earlier,” I whispered against his lips.

He smirked. “What about it?”

“I don’t want the tip. I want the whole thing.”

Boldly, I reached between us and grabbed his dick through his sweats. Shit! I could tell he was thick and heavy. He peered down at me with lust filled eyes.

“Don’t tempt me, Wynter. I’ll take your ass in that bathroom and bend you over that sink.”
