She straightens. “And the plot line is good, too,” she quickly adds. “But the spice,” she fans herself. Xandros turns his attention to the clerk, feigning a dramatic sense of shock.
“You’ve read this, too? I feel like I need to wash my mouth out, maybe even my eyes,” he quips, pretending to be scandalized.
I seize the opportunity to snatch the book back from his hands, determined to put an end to our playful back-and-forth.
“This is what you’re into? Wanting all holes filled?” Xandros whispers in my ear, his arms wrapping around me once again. He nibbles gently on my neck, causing a shiver to run down my spine. I push him away. “No!”
“Good, because I am not a man who likes to share, though I am more than happy to fill you,” he growls and I sigh.
I am definitely not that sort of girl, one asshole is enough to try to survive, let alone finding two Xandros’, I think to myself.
“The storyline seems intriguing, I only read half of it before you kidnapped me,” I retort.
“Storyline? What storyline, the discovery of her gagging on cocks, or are we talking about the tantalizing storyline of counting foreskins?” he mocks and I roll my eyes.
“Nope, if you’re reading that I am keeping my picture book, it has a good storyline, too.”
“Hmm, so what’s the story about?” I ask Xandros.
“Ahh, about... I’m sure it has one,” he tells me, and I smile deviously.
“So you want this one?” the store girl asks.
“Yes,” Xandros states.
“Sure, the storyline, I will pretend that’s the only reason you want to read it.” I laugh.
The store clerk chuckles at our exchange, clearly amused by our banter. I take the book he chose back from the clerk, holding it up.
“Well, if you’re interested, you might as well grab book two as well. I devoured both in two days,” she tells him.
“Oh, I liked book 2 better,” I tell her, shoving the book with erotic pictures into his chest before wandering off.
Xandros whirls around to face me, feigning outrage. “You’ve read it already?” I laugh softly while he points an accusing finger at me.
“And you’re complaining about my book tastes when you’ve read it? Unbelievable,” he teased, a playful glimmer in his eyes.
I held his gaze, my smile widening. “You don’t want to read it; you just want to admire the pictures,” I reply, teasing him in return. He sputters in mock offense, attempting to defend his intentions. We both know the truth: he wants some images for his spank bank!
“Fine, I expect a full rundown of the book,” I tell him. For a few seconds, I’m not certain what he’ll do. Xandros narrows his eyes as he glares at me. It’s like an intense stare-down between two street cats, each one waiting for the other to look away first. Finally, I break the silence by laughing, knowing damn well I won’t get a full run down but seeing him squirm is worth it in itself.
His eyes sparkle deviously. “Fine, I’ll read it from front to back, only if we reenact the raunchy bits,” he purrs. I shake my head, following the girl to the counter, while he chuckles, following me.

Seeing Sienna genuinely smile is something I haven’t seen before. And all it took was a book? I shake my head, watching as she reads, her eyes glowing in the darkness as her vision adjusts.
She said she was just reading the first page, but I have noticed she is a good fifteen pages into the book already. As we pull into the driveway, she still does not look up. Or when the car stops, for that matter.
I’m wondering how long it will take for her to notice we are back at the castle. Glancing at my watch, I see I’ve been waiting five minutes for her to notice we’ve stopped, so I clear my throat. She jumps at the sound, and I raise an eyebrow at her. Sienna quickly glances around, snapping her book shut, and I see the slightest tinge on her cheeks.
“You’ve ignored me this entire drive,” I chuckle. “Why do I feel like I am going to regret allowing you to have books?”
Her fingers grip it tighter, like she believes I truly would take it from her. The small motion stings for some reason. Have I really reduced the woman to someone who would rather be off with the fairies with her nose in a book than be present in the real world with me?
Before I can ask any questions, car lights heading toward us on the driveway catch my attention. My grip tightens on the steering wheel as the vehicle comes to a stop beside us. The door opens, and Vin steps out, wearing a smug smile.
King Vin opens my door, and I grit my teeth.
