“Hey. You good?”
“Not really. I just want to take a shower and lay in the bed.” I was sure that sounded odd seeing as how it was barely even darkout, but I didn’t care. I had a few pairs of boxer briefs, some tees, and basketball shorts at Aubree’s house.
“Okay.” I could tell she was concerned, but she didn’t ask any questions and for the moment, that was how I preferred it.
In the shower, all I could think about was how I could kill Nice and get away with it.
CHAPTER 11
AUBREE
Brasi had beenin my bed for an hour, and he hadn’t spoken one word. He was flat on his back, and my head was on his chest. He had one arm wrapped around me. Aside from the television the room was silent. I was worried about him, but I knew he’d talk when he wanted to. Finally, he spoke.
“Did you know when you were dealing with Nice that he killed Ish?”
I sat up so fast that a pain shot through my neck. Peering down at him with a deep frown, I drew back. “What do you mean did I know? That’s news to me, and I’d never deal with a person that I knew killed Ish. What kind of question is that?”
Brasi sighed. “I know you didn’t know no shit like that. I’m bugging. I just found out he killed Ish, and I’m fucked up. It’s taking everything in me not to find that nigga and go take his life.”
“How did you find out?”
“His girl put out word to her cousin that I was locked up with that she needed to tell me something. I saw him at the store, and he linked me with her. Nice beat her ass real good, and her get back was telling me that he killed Ish.”
I stared at him in disbelief. “Wow. Babe, I’m so sorry. I can’t imagine how you feel, but please don’t do anything stupid.”
“I don’t need lectures,” he stated in a low, nonconfrontational tone.
I laid back down and said a silent prayer that Brasi wouldn’t do anything that would get him sent back to prison. I wasn’t that naïve girl anymore. I wouldn’t even attempt to wait for him if he got time. Not because I didn’t love him but because I didn’t want to dedicate my life to waiting on a man to be released from prison. Brasi loved Ish. That was his brother and his best friend, but him killing Nice wouldn’t bring Ish back.
I couldn’t believe Nice’s snake ass. Ish never bothered anybody. And he really used to front like he was looking for Ish’s killer and acting like that was really his friend.
“I’m not trying to be difficult,” he stated in a low tone before placing a kiss on my forehead. “I’m all over the place, man. That information messed me up.”
“I know it did. There was no way that it couldn’t. As hard as it is to process, however, I’m glad you know. That way you’ll never entertain his corny ass again.”
There was no way I knew what Brasi was planning unless he told me, and I really didn’t care to know. I was already going to worry about him but knowing what he planned to do would make it ten times worse.
“Come here.” The moment was serious. Heavy even. But the way his command came out in a low rumble, I was turned on instantly.
I straddled Brasi, and he gripped my hips. Leaning in so we were chest to chest, I snaked my tongue into his mouth, and his hands went from my sides to my butt cheeks. He massaged them as our tongues did a sensual dance. Brasi pushed my panties to the side, and I moaned into his mouth when he pushed into me. The action was rough, but it felt so damn good.
“I love you,” I spoke against his lips.
We’d already said it to one another numerous times before in the past. Nothing about how I felt had changed, and I wasn’t ashamed to let him know.
Brasi flipped me, so I was on my back. He stared down into my face with so much intensity that I almost wondered if my words had upset him. Slowly, he began to stoke my walls while still maintaining eye contact.
“I love you too. Always and forever. My love for you and my mother are the only things keeping me from doing something real stupid right now.”
I wrapped my arms around Brasi’s neck, and our kiss resumed. His strokes were slow and deliberate, but our kiss was sloppy and passionate. We kissed until my lips were sore. We kissed through orgasms and words that alternated between romantic and filthy. Brasi went from “I love you so fuckin’ much,” to ‘I’m about to bust all in this pussy. Fuck baby, you got a nigga gon’ ‘bout this shit.”
I didn’t want fear and anxiety to ruin such a beautiful moment, so I pushed my worries about what Nice had done and what Brasi might do to him to the back of my mind. I didn’t give a damn about Nice, but he wasn’t worth Brasi’s future. I knew it, and I prayed to God that Brasi knew it too.
Three days later, I was with The Hellcat Barbies, and we were posted up in the parking lot of a store that had closed down. The businesses around the vacant building had closed for the day, so there weren’t any cars in the parking lot besides ours, the members of a Mustang car club, and a few other people. I turned my steering wheel and mashed the gas. As soon as my car beganto slide, I let the wheel go and eased up on the throttle. Once the car was sideways, I grabbed the wheel again and gave a little more gas to turn a little wider before easing up on the gas and straightening my car. When I pulled up it was only right that I show out by doing a donut.
I had just gotten new tires for my baby and the meet up was a good way to break them in by doing a donut or two. I had parked beside Dashai’s wine colored car. Her and Imani lived in Crescent Falls, and they had started their own chapter there. But, they still came through for big events and some meet ups.
“Hey boo,” I greeted Dashai, and we hugged briefly.
