“Yes. It’s the best way to help her now.” Dr. Elizabeth’s tone is matter-of-fact, as though she hasn’t just turned my whole body into a furnace of embarrassment.

Mortification floods me. My face feels like it’s on fire. Surely he won’t—surely he’ll refuse. But Logan only nods once.

“Not a problem,” he rumbles. “I can do that.”

Not a problem? My heart is racing like a drumbeat. How can he say that so calmly?

“Good,” Dr. Elizabeth says, making a note. “Is there anything else?”

There is. I want to talk to her alone. I want to ask why I keep craving Logan’s seed—why I want to suck him every night, why I feel so hungry for him. But the words stick in my throat. How do I even ask for privacy without making it obvious?

I clear my throat. My cheeks blaze hotter and I glance at Logan. But before I can stumble through a stilted request to be alone with Dr. Elizabeth, Logan seems to understand what I need.

“If you’ll excuse me,” he says in that same, steady voice. “I need to make a call.”

He leaves the room, shutting the door softly behind him.

I clutch my hands together, force myself to look at Dr. Elizabeth.

“There’s something else,” I whisper. “But I…I don’t know if it’s normal or not.”

“Well, why don’t you tell me what it is and I’ll let you know,” she says, smiling easily. “Please don’t be embarrassed, Poppy—you know I’ll keep whatever you say confidential if you want me to. And I doubt there’s anything going on with your pregnancy that I haven’t seen before. I’ve been a doctor for thirty years, you know.”

Her words reassure me considerably.

“I…I keep craving him,” I say at last. “Logan, I mean. I…I want his seed.”

Her brows crease.

“You mean…?”

I nod.

“Yes, all the time. I’ve been wanting to…to suck him, every night. And even when I do, it feels like I can’t get enough.”

Her eyes warm with understanding.

“Ah, as I suspected, you’re going into a Second Heat.” She pats my knee. “Don’t worry—it’s perfectly normal. That craving for your mate’s seed is part of a normal, healthy Were pregnancy—and likely why your milk has come in early, too. Your body is responding to your Alpha’s touch, that’s all.”

“Really?” I look at her, wanting to be reassured. This seems like such a strange thing, but she only smiles at me.

“Yes, really. You’ll feel it down below as well—you’ll be hungry for penetration. You’ll probably need to feel yourself filled and stretched. That’s all normal—it’s your body’s way of getting ready for when it’s time to have the baby.”

Heat rolls through me at her words. I bite my lip, too embarrassed to answer.

The door opens. Logan comes back in, his massive shoulders filling the doorway.

“I was just telling Poppy,” Dr. Elizabeth says smoothly, “that she’s going to need to be knotted and filled often. That helps stretch her for the birth. Were babies can be especially big.”

My heart stutters in my chest. Knotting. Filled. How can she talk about it so calmly? And it’s the one thing Logan can’t do for me. But she’s not done yet.

“In fact…here.” Dr. Elizabeth turns, opens a cabinet, and pulls out a box. She hands it to me. “These will help as well.”

I lift the lid—and blink at the row of strange plastic cylinders inside. They’re rounded at the tips, starting small—no bigger than my finger—but gradually getting larger until the last one looks…oh God. Bigger than Logan.

I look up at her uncertainly. My voice shakes as I ask the question.

“What…what are these?”
