A movement caught her eye and she glanced toward the house to see Deke and the girls watching them through the kitchen window. She smiled back up at Quinn. “Are you serious about staying for a few days? Helping us out so we can get Jeff off the place? Deke’s healing fast, but I’d like him to stay put for a while longer.”

“Would it include a place to live?”

“Room. Board. Christmas celebration. All in one package.”

He brought his head down to take her lips in a long kiss. “I could be persuaded.”

“Good.” She stepped back and let her hands trail down his sleeves to take hold of his hands. “I’ll text Jeff Barnett and give him a couple days of extra pay.”

“And I’ll make certain that you do not regret this decision.”

She squeezed his hands and then laced her fingers through his. “I won’t,” she promised him before tilting her head toward the house. “Come on in out of the cold. It’s almost time for Deke to make his famous hot chocolate.”

“I love you, you know.”

“You said that before.”

He gave her one of his heart-melting smiles. “Guess you better get used to hearing it, because I plan to repeat myself.” He stopped to kiss her as snow drifted onto her upturned face. “Again, and again, and again.”
