Ezer didn’t say a word, just glared as Ned climbed from the bed, pulled on a fuzzy robe, and entered the bathroom, coming back with a warm bowl of water and a towel. Ezer sat, stunned, and Ned cleaned them both off, wiping away slick and cum. Afterward, Ned went over to kitchen area of the room to claim a glass, filling it with water. He brought it over to the bed, his large cock poking between the folds of the robe, swinging between his thighs, and his exposed chest flushed from the intensity of their prior activities. Ezer’s asshole ached to have that cock back inside even as his heart wrung with agony at his plight.

Still unmoving, Ezer stared at the glass in Ned’s hand.

“It’s all right now, Ezer,” Ned said again, pushing it toward him. “Your first wave has passed, but we need to prepare for the next one. Drink it. Please.”

Ezer did. The water was a blessing on his throat, and it burst with a fresh coolness in his stomach. But that didn’t drown out the shock of looking into the warm eyes of one of his regular tormenters, now talking to him with tenderness, as if he were something precious. Was this a nightmare? A joke? A horror story?

Ned’s behavior outside Da’s apartment fell into place. His da’s words that the alpha cared for him. How had he not put together that the alpha knew him? That he wasn’t going to be foisted onto one of his father’s business partner’s sons. He’d assumed George wanted him far away. He’d assumed the alpha would be a wealthy son of a peer in Yeddana or Billepsi City. Not Ned Clearwater.

Ned reached out to stroke Ezer’s hair.

Ezer jerked away, unwilling to tolerate his touch now the wave had passed. How long until another wave hit? How long until he was begging this bully to fuck him, this terrible alpha who’d stood by and let Braden and Finch torment him, and even participated sometimes?

He was sharing his heat, breeding with a cowardly abuser.

“Why?” Ezer asked, his throat felt raw from crying out in pleasure.

Ned tilted his head, confused. “Why what?”

“Why are you doing this to me?”

Was it revenge of some kind? A new endless torment? Was it all a horrific joke so that Ned could laugh at Ezer’s expense later with his friends? Describe the way the helpless “cocksleeve” had begged for it?

Ned’s eyes clouded and he reached out again, but Ezer knocked his hand away. Tilting his head, Ned answered, “Because you’re in heat and you need an alpha.”

“No! I know that. Why did youwantto do this?” Ezer wished he wasn’t so tired and weak. He wanted to kick Ned in the face, spit on him, and then run out of the door as fast as he could, but he wasn’t an idiot. He wouldn’t get far. There was a reason heat houses were isolated—many reasons—but this exact scenario was definitely one of them.

“That’s why I hoped we’d have a few days before your heat started, so I could help you understand,” Ned said. He sighed and sat on the side of the bed.

Ezer scooted away, leaving a gap between them.

“I was surprised you signed the contract. It seemed so out of character. When our fathers first proposed this whole”—he waved around the room and twisted his lips up in a weird smile—“thing, I thought for sure you’d refuse. It seemed like a dream. A fantasy.”

“A fantasy?”

“That you might want this with me,” Ned said. “The way I wanted it with you. I mean, being with you, not necessary servicing a heat and…and having a baby. I wasn’t even sure weshoulddo that, you know? Because we’re both so young.” He swallowed. “And you hated me.”

“Hateyou,” Ezer corrected. “Present tense.”

Ned blinked, shaking his head. “No, no. You signed the contract. You wanted this.”

Ezer was a fool, but Ned seemed to be one, too. Either he was a very good actor—and he was not—or he was more clueless than even Ezer had been about the situation they were now in.

“What makes you think I wanted this? With you?” Ezer asked, his voice unsteady.

“Because your father could have found others to suit his needs—your needs, I mean. So many others. But you signed forme, so, I thought maybe…”

“Maybe what?”

“I thoughtIsuited your needs somehow. That you understood my feelings for you, or that you just wanted me too?”

Ezer sneered, astonished at this boy’s arrogance. Of course Ned Clearwater would assume any omega would want him—handsome, strong, connected as he was. Assholes like him always felt entitled to an omega’s lust and believed it was inevitable they would be the object of it. “I signed for myownreasons. It had nothing to do with you. I didn’t even read the contract between your father and mine before I signed it.”

Ned blinked. “What? Why not? That’s reckless.”

“Dangerous, even. I know.” Ezer was very aware of that now. He’d already had Ned’s knot in him once, this bully’s seed was currently dribbling out of him, and he was going to have to take it again.

And again.
