“I doubt that.”

“Let’s not talk about this now. I’m still…” Ezer squirmed and came again, his skin flushing and fresh sweat breaking over him. “Oh fuck. It’s just so good.” He said it desperately, as if he might cry.

“You smell delicious when you come,” Ned said. “I want to cover myself in your scent.”

“You’re supposed to. It’s natural,” Ezer murmured, but he sounded drowsy. He must be right about the heat receding. Normally, they’d have another wave or two before there was a break. Ned felt an odd sense of loss over it.

“Ezer?”

“Mmm?”

“I think I’m in love with you.”

Ezer’s eyes scrunched tight, not bothering to open. “That’s fucking absurd. Don’t say it again.”

“Ever?”

“Ever.”

Ned frowned, a bloom of sadness over his heart, but he nodded reluctantly.

“You’re just going to agree?” Ezer said, squinting one eye open to glare at Ned.

“I’m going to respect your wishes.”

Ezer huffed. “Is this some trick? A roundabout way to, what, provethat you quote-unquote love me, or something?”

Ned smirked, moved his hips, and watched as Ezer came apart on his knot again.

Oh, so beautiful, such a delight to see Ezer’s ripe mouth fall open, and his body tense and release all over in glorious spasms, all caused by Ned, by the way he was nestled so firmly inside he could feel Ezer’s heartbeat around his knot.

“Is it?” Ezer demanded again when he could breathe almost normally.

“I can’t talk about that,” Ned teased, kissing the edge of Ezer’s jaw. “You asked me not to, so I won’t.”

“Argh, you’re already so annoying. How am I going to stand you?” Ezer said, kicking against Ned’s ass and pounding on his back, but a smile teased his mouth as the movement sent them both into spasms of pleasure again.

“I almost don’t want it to stop,” Ezer said, his eyes dazed, as he peered at the ceiling just past Ned’s shoulders. “I can forget when the heat’s got me in its grasp.”

“What do you want to forget?”

Ezer smirked. “Everything.” He ran his hands into Ned’s hair again, smoothing it down, and then down to his ass where he gripped him and held him firmly. “This becomes the whole world, and all the other things, all the pain and confusion, just slip away.”

Ned kissed Ezer’s chin and jaw again, wanting to relieve Ezer of this burden forever. “You never have to be afraid with me. Never again.”

“So you say. But what happens when Braden and Finch—”

Ned growled. “I’ll kill them if they look at you. I’ll gut them.”

“Wow. Calm down,” Ezer said laughing, and then cursing as that ricocheted into small orgasms for both of them. “That’s a little over the top,” he panted as they passed. “We don’t need to add murder to the list of problems in our lives. I’ve got plenty. Thanks.”

Ned’s knot started to go down, and Ezer moaned as Ned slipped free. He pressed four fingers inside and briefly considered fisting him, certain that his hand would fit easily after the stretch of his knot, but he knew Ezer needed to rest between waves, not play more. So he massaged his heat-swollen prostate with his fingers, until Ezer hissed and kicked at his arm, and then Ned pulled free, rising to cover Ezer with his body.

“You’re too small to carry a child healthily,” Ned murmured. “I’m going to make sure you eat better now. In the nest at my father’s house, we’ll have the best food for you. I’ll make sure of it.”

“Maybe,” Ezer said noncommittally. “But you can’t make me eat it.”

“No, but I can entice you to eat.”
