“Chased him all the way out into the street.” Gigi giggled. “Well, one of them did. The guard was face down in the mop bucket.”

“You didn’t!” Su-jin gasped.

“What can I say?” Gigi shrugged. “After spilling all that mess on the floor, I just had to try to help.”

“Bak is so going to screw with you,” Su-jin whimpered.

Yohei stuck his hands into the pockets of his track pants. “Let him. Done playing his games. Besides, looks like Jun’s boyfriend is going to fuck with Bak more than Bak is going to fuck with us.”

Yohei shot Damian a look with a raised eyebrow. Damian couldn’t help it, and he grinned back with teeth. Yohei let out a huff of laughter.

Su-jin was stroking his fingers over his passport, looking at it like it was something precious.

“Keep those on you from now on,” Damian said. “No one else needs to be carrying them. They need them, they can deal with you.”

“Got it.” Su-jin nodded. Jun wasn’t even looking up, just staring at his, holding it with both hands.

“Jun,” Damian said more softly. “You ready?”

Jun swallowed and shook his head, then pushed his passport into his pocket, “No, but we better get started. Do you mind?” He waved his hand. He looked overwhelmed but determined.

Damian nodded. He could take point. It was only natural. “Everyone know what the plan is?”

Most shook their heads. Damian clapped his hands together. “All right. Does everyone know why Jun disappeared?”

There were general nods. Geun’s eyes were dark and narrow, matching Richard’s. It was almost uncanny how two men of very different backgrounds and ethnicities could have so many similarities.

Damian laid out the plan, repeating himself in English and Korean, the same as he would have prepared a team for an international court date. Everyone present was a professional. They listened and organized like a team who had spent time together, not just met. Damian handed Jun his phone. Jun took a moment and then straightened his shoulders, cocked his hip to the side, and shook out his hair, pulling on a devil-may-care look. He dialed the police and put the phone on speaker. Mi Hi moved toward Richard. If Damian had to guess, she was going to translate for him.

It rang twice. A man on the other end picked up, announcing the precinct.

“I’m calling about Gang Junseo,” Jun said. “You have a missing person’s alert out. You’re not referencing me, are you?”

“And you are, sir?”

“I’m Gang Junseo.”

“We do have an alert out for a person by that name. But he’s the K-pop idol, sir.”

“Um, well, that’s me. I’m very much not missing. My phone died, but I’m not missing. Just on vacation.”

“You were reported missing, sir. Can you come down to the station to confirm that you are not missing?”

“Not really.” Jun made eye contact with Damian. His face was a little pale, but otherwise he was pulling off the cool idol act with perfection. “I have a press conference in twenty minutes. But if you want to send someone around there to confirm, that would be fine.” He rattled off the name of the hotel and the street and hung up.

“Tick-tock.” Yohei said in English, making clock motions with his hands. He made a dance out of it, and Gigi joined him, the two of them freestyling on the floor.

Jun handed Damian back his phone. Damian held out his arm, and Jun leaned against him, just for a moment, then pushed back. “I need to get cleaned up.”

“New outfit on the bed,” Mi Hi yelled out. “And then I’ll do your makeup.”

“Don’t have any.”

Su-jin waved his hand in the air and jumped up. “I brought mine. I’ll help.” He dove into the room after Jun.

Yohei stared after them fondly and then turned back to Damian and said in Korean, “So how much information did we manage to grab today?”

Geun drifted over, and even though he didn’t move, Jaewoong was obviously listening from the couch.
