So, I give it to him. “Yes, but I just wanted to try it out. See how good my Kegel exercises are. I can’t believe I orgasmed during my first time. Way to go, All Star!” I raise my hand to give him a high five, but he laughs again and rolls off me, pulling out of me.

He walks to the bathroom, probably to dispose of the condom. I hear the toilet flush and then the sink turn on. He comes out with a washcloth. I have yet to look down to see how much blood there is. I hate the sight of blood. Auggie doesn’t seem too concerned about it as he starts to wipe my private areas clean.

He throws the washcloth in a hamper and crawls back in bed with me, wrapping his arms around me. We just lay there in a comfortable silence for a while. I don’t know how long we lay like that, but I’m in my own thoughts when I hear him say, “Thank you for choosing me to be your first.”

I turn so that I’m facing him. He has a weird look on his face, but he smiles. “You don’t have to thank me. We have always talked about being each other’s firsts. I knew you would make it better than any of my girlfriends’ firsts. One of them lost theirs in a van while riding around town with someone else drivingthem. Another was for a bet, and he only cared about getting off. The other was with her boyfriend, but the poor guy kept on ejaculating before he could even get it in her. I’m still not sure if she’s a virgin or not.” We both laugh. “This was perfect, Auggie. Thank you. Now, are you ready for round two?”

Chapter 12

River, Age 18

I can’t believe I’ll be graduating this year. I remember wishing for time to pass faster, but now I wish it would slow down. It’s the summer before I start senior year, and we are all going to Maine for our senior trip.

Our parents have rented a huge house on the water, and we will be doing all kinds of fun things. We have a clam bake on Cabbage Island, which looks so yummy. We will be visiting some of the lighthouses.

The only downer is that Melissa and her family are here. I was trying to be an adult and go along with it. I figured we could both get along one last time. I mean, how bad can it really be?

Logan brought his girlfriend. They have been on and off for the last year and a half. She’s nice, but she seems a little off. Melissa brought one of her friends, Meredith.

I want to hang out with Auggie, so I made sure he wasn’t bringing anyone. He’d been good at keeping his girlfriends away from me. I don’t think he’d bring a girl, but maybe another guy friend.

I got us reservations for Acadia State Park to see the sunset. I’ve always loved watching the sun rising and setting, and I thought it would be fun to do that with him. Our moms have an open itinerary, where we are only scheduled for one thing a day, and the rest of the day, we can do what we want. As we’ve gotten older, they’ve learned to be more open to changes.

Most everyone got here last night, but Logan’s family is coming today. They should be here any minute. It’s an easy day. We’ve been out by the water while the parents grill and drink beer. There is a boat we can use later. I’m sure that once Aunt Jess and everyone else settle, we will take turns on the water.

The place we are staying at has one of those climbable obstacle courses. I’m using it to lie on and work on my tan. I’ve been lying at the top of the obstacle course for a while. Melissa and her friend were up here earlier, but when I climbed up, they left for the dock. I thought, “Good. I don’t want to hang out with them anyway.”

I see Auggie heading away from the house. He went in earlier to get something to eat. I have my sunglasses on, so I can admire him without being noticed. He’s toned this year from all his baseball camps. He got his hair cut right before coming here. His facial features are sharper than they were. He’s almost lost all his baby face. Not quite, but close. God, he is so damn sexy. I appreciate the work he’s been putting in.

He’s stopped by Melissa and her friend. He laughs at something they say, and I hear Melissa cackle.

I take a deep breath. I’m trying to be nice. I close my eyes and start counting backward from fifty.

I feel some movement and hear his voice before I see him. I’m zoning out, but I don’t care. His voice started changing when we were fifteen, but it’s gotten deeper since the last time I saw him. I could listen to his deep voice for hours, but I know he’s expecting a response.

“What’d you say?” I respond.

He plops down next to me. He’s all sweaty, but I don’t mind one bit. “I asked you if you want to race me on this thing. It’s been a while since we’ve done anything like this.”

“Sure, but I want to do a practice run,” I tell him. He laughs at me. “What?”

“I just knew you would want to do that.”

“Well, you’ve already been through,” I explain. “It’s only fair.” I raise one brow at him.

He holds his hand out to pull me up. “Okay, okay. Have your turn, if you think it will help.”

I know he’s trying to egg me on. I get up and start to stretch; my muscles are tight.

“Are there any rules?” I ask.

He smirks. Oh gosh, I don’t trust him. “No rules,” he responds.

“You dirty dog.” I narrow my eyes at him. I know he’s going to cheat. I start by jumping into the water. It’s easier to get to the start by swimming. Here goes nothing.

Well, Auggie beat me on the obstacle course. He played dirty like I thought he would. At one point, we were neck and neck, and then he pushed me off the float. Little brat. I got back on, but I couldn’t catch up after that. It was fun, though. It felt like old times.
