“Okay. I’ll knock, huh?”
He laughed lightly. “Please do.” Then he headed to find Brenden. He was still snoozing on the sofa, so he went to sit near Brenden’s feet, not sure whether to wake him up.
Brenden blinked, those pretty eyes opening. “Hey.”
“Hey, you. The kids are all resting.”
“Oh, good. I was hoping I hadn’t missed someone getting up. Is Moose asking to go out?”
“He’s sound asleep, honey. Like, out.”
“Yeah, it was a stressful day.” Brenden gave him a shaky smile. “Are you coming to bed, or do you have to go work?”
“I’m going to sleep. We’re making more serum, but I can’t do anything else.” He needed…. He needed to know that Brenden didn’t hate him.
“Good.” Brenden stood before grabbing his hand to drag him to the bedroom.
He stumbled the first few steps, then caught up. He grinned, hoping this wasn’t about Brenden cussing him out.
Hell, he’d even take that, because it would mean they were together.
Instead, as soon as the door closed behind them, Brenden grabbed him and kissed him silly.
He gasped, hands finding Brenden’s hips. Oh. Oh, hell yes. This was what he’d dreamed of when they’d let him sleep a few hours at a time. He had to keep touching Brenden to make sure this was real.
“I’m sorry,” Liam whispered.
“Shut up. Apologize later.”
Swooping down to kiss Brenden again, Liam thought what a grand idea that was. Really.
He was all over later. Right now he wanted more kisses, more of Brenden’s hands on his skin.
This didn’t feel like Brenden hated him. This felt a lot like love.
He grabbed Brenden’s ass and tugged, bringing them closer together, giving them some good friction. Brenden wrapped both arms around his neck and moaned, tongue pushing into Liam’s mouth. His eyes rolled back in his head, and he opened right up, letting Brenden take whatever he needed.
They moved to the not-quite-big-enough bed, both of them sinking down. He pushed under Brenden’s shirt, hand pressed against that fine lean belly.
“Mmm. Yes.” Brenden tugged at his shirt. “I want you.”
“Yeah. Yeah, I was so scared that…. God, love.”
“I’m right here,” Brenden said. “We’re all safe, including Susanna.”
“Uh-huh. All of us. Christ. Touch me.”
“I got you.” Brenden pinched his nipples, and he grunted, the tiny shock enough to bring him up on tiptoe.
They stripped off clothes, both of them panting by the time they lay back, rubbing against each other some more.
He gasped at the sensation of skin on skin, of the heat of Brenden’s need pressing against him.
“I love the sounds you make.”
His cheeks went hot, and his balls drew up tight. He was so ready, his hair-trigger set because of the stress and the separation.
“Easy. Easy, I get it. Prove we’re still alive, right?”
