“Yes. A lover.” Gray took a long, heated kiss, telling him that was the perfect thing to say.
He cuddled right in. “Is it crazy that I want to call Liv and tell her the good news?”
“Nope. I think that would be awesome.” Gray wiggled around. “Want me to get your phone?”
“Can you reach my jeans?”
“I can. Hold on.” Gray snagged them off the floor.
He grabbed his phone and dialed Emily’s mom. “Hey, Mari, can you let me talk to Liv right quick?”
“Sure, did you ask him to move in yet? Hank and I have a bet.”
“Woman, I’m not telling tales until I talk to my daughter.”
“You did! Cool. Hold on.”
He rolled his eyes and shook his head, waiting for his favorite voice on earth.
“Daddy?”
“Hey, baby girl, having fun?”
“Uh-huh. Is something wrong?” Poor baby sounded so worried.
“Nope. I just wanted to give you some news about us and Gray.”
“Okay. What?” Now she was working toward excited.
“I asked Gray if he’d like to move in with us.” He held his breath.
“Oh, yay! I mean, good Daddy. Did he say yes?”
He clicked on speaker. “He said yes.”
She squealed, the sound shrill and perfectly joyful. “Yes! I knew it. I knew he would come home if you asked.”
He looked over at Gray, eyes twinkling at his lover. “Tell your new housemate hi, Gray.”
“Hi, kiddo. Can I have your room?”
“Noooo.” She giggled madly. “You can have Frannie’s.”
Gray hooted. “I might stay with your dad.”
“Yeah? You should. Boys can share the bathroom. It’s big. Are you moving today, Gray? Bring all your Christmas decorations for the tree. We were supposed to do that on the solstice, but maybe we’ll do it, um, the day after.”
“We’ll figure it out together, huh?” Gray soothed. “I’ll bring all but the big stuff.”
“We will. I have to go. We’re playing with the dollhouse. I’m happy, though. We’ll have the best slumber parties!”
Ben chuckled softly. “Can I come too?”
“You always can come to my parties, silly Daddy.”
“Oh, good. Love you, baby.”
“Love you, Daddy. Love you, Gray.”
