“Come with me,” he requested.
“Why?” she inquired, even though she knew why.
“So we can see if my face looks better between your legs.”
“As tempting as that sounds,” she started, getting up on her tiptoes and wrapping her arms around his neck. She leaned in, pulling him down, her lips a millimeter from his. “I’m going to make you work for it first.” With that, she dropped her arms, taking a step back.
Journee gasped as Killian reached out and grabbed her by the neck, his index finger running along her lower lip. It had happened so fast, and she hadn’t been expecting it.
“I’m going to enjoy making it very hard on you until then,” he told her, leaning in. He turned her head and licked up the side of her neck, the tip of his tongue barely touching, before nipping her earlobe. “I’m going to make it almost as hard as I plan on fucking you.”
When he stepped back, Journee was sure her pupils were dilated because damn if that action and those two sentences hadn’t got a fountain flowing between her legs.
He held his phone out to her as he said goodbye to Kaydence and Axel. Journee gave the phone back to him after putting her number in. He tipped her chin up, “Enjoy your night, Little Tigress.”
Journee felt herself moving, and it took a moment to realize that Kaydence had laced her arm through hers and was pulling her toward the car.
“This is going to be so fun to witness,” her best friend spoke with a slight laugh.
Hell, to witness? Journee was sure it would be fun to participate in. Intense but a hell of a lot of fun. She was about to play cat and mouse with him, and she wasn’t the least bit worried that she was about to bring the predator out of him. She looked forward to it.

Killian had awoken the following day and decided he would get a jump start on “working for it,” as Journee had put it. After getting out of the shower, he’d sent her a text asking if she wanted to go to dinner with him that night. He’d almost requested lunch instead. However, Killian had been sure she was working, and a lunch date would give him a time limit that he didn’t need.
He’d just finished getting dressed when she’d texted him back—stating that she didn’t mind dinner but asking if they could go at eight since she had a late meeting. Killian didn’t care what time they went and agreed.
Which led him to now, as he pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant he’d let her choose. Since he didn’t live there, he wasn’t familiar with all the best places and had deferred to her choice. Killian volunteered to pick her up, but Journee wanted to meet him there instead. He was fully aware of why.
Killian knew that Journee didn’t want to run the risk of coming back to his suite with him tonight or him going home with her. He, however, wouldn’t push for either of those since she wanted him to earn it, and he planned on doing so. He was going to make her crave it in the meantime.
Getting out of his vehicle, he walked to the front of the restaurant. He was a few minutes early and decided to head inside to get them a table. The restaurant wasn’t overly crowded since it was a weekday, and he was seated immediately. Pulling out his phone, he sent a text to Journee asking that she text or call him when she arrived.
A waitress came over to the table as he waited and placed a menu down in front of him. “What’s a handsome man like yourself doing eating alone?” she questioned, and Killian could tell that she wasn’t flirting with him. Simply making conversation in hopes of a larger tip.
“I’m not,” he informed her, gesturing to the seat he’d moved from across the table to beside him. “I’m waiting on someone.”
The waitress gave him a smile before snagging another menu from a passing server and placing it in the empty section. “Do you want to place drink orders for the two of you, or would you like to wait?”
“I’ll wait,” he responded. The waitress nodded, telling him she’d be back just as his phone vibrated.
Killian looked down to see that Journee had texted him, stating she had just pulled in. Getting up from the table, he walked out of the restaurant to find her getting out of her car. Killian walked over and wrapped an arm around her waist.
“Get your…Killian,” she spoke as she turned to look at him over her shoulder, and he could see the spark of irritation in her eyes dwindle out.
“Who did you think it was?” he questioned with a smirk. “I told you to text me when you got here for a reason.”
“I thought it was some random, and I didn’t know you were coming out here. I could have walked inside by myself.”
Killian shook his head, releasing her waist to allow her to close the car door. He then took her hand and began to lead them toward the restaurant. “I don’t even want to know the type of boys you’ve been dating that have had you walking anywhere by yourself when you’re supposed to be with them.”
It was a passing statement, and Killian had been speaking more to himself than he had been to Journee, but he heard her scoff in offense, nonetheless. He wondered if he should have apologized but was never one to apologize for the truth, and she hadn’t snatched her hand from his, so she wasn’t too upset about it.
Killian led the way over to the table and pulled out Journee’s chair for her before sitting himself. “Would you like a bottle of wine?” he asked.
“Are you a wine drinker?” Journee inquired.
“I enjoy a glass or two now and then.”
