“Thank you for bringing me here. It’s been a while since I came.”

“I can change that,” Killian responded, looking at the menu in his hand. “Though I recall making you do that a couple of days ago at the theater.”

“Really, Killian?”

Those gray eyes came up to meet hers and shined with mischief. Journee supposed she couldn’t say anything because he’d given her fair warning that he wouldn’t behave, and she’d acknowledged as much.

“I’m glad I could bring you,” he responded. “So, since you’ve been before, what would you recommend?” Killian questioned, holding up the menu.

“Do you like seafood?”

“I do.”

“They make these delicious shrimp nachos, or you can try the loaded fries. They’re made with fajita beef, all the extras, and their house sauce. They’re both appetizers, but they’re huge.”

“We can do both of those. Is that okay with you?” Killian questioned.

Journee nodded. “I like both of those, so I’m fine with that.”

When their server returned with their drinks, Killian placed both orders as Journee took a sip of her drink. Once they were alone at the table again, Journee decided to break the silence.

“So, what’s your favorite hobby?”

“Archery,” Killian responded as he placed his drink back on the table. “What’s yours?”

“Finding unique places,” she replied.

“For someone who doesn’t take vacations often, I see that being difficult.”

Journee shook her head. “You’d be surprised at the places you can find in your hometown that you didn’t know existed. I also look when I’m visiting clients in the surrounding cities when I get them now and again.”

“How do you keep up with them?” Killian asked.

“I pin them on my phone, and then when I get home, I print out that area map and place it in a scrapbook with the date and what stuck out to me at that particular place.”

“We should go find a unique place together.”

“I’d like that,” Journee responded with a smile. “How’d you get into archery?”

“Believe it or not, I was a boy scout. It was one of our troop activities, and I enjoyed it. So, my mom and stepdad signed me up for lessons, and I stuck with it until I joined the Marines. I still visit a range now and then.”

“I can see you being a boy scout,” she told him, taking a sip of her drink. “Will you take me?”

When he smirked at her, Journee realized she’d set herself up. “On this table, if you want.”

“I tumbled right into that one.”

Killian chuckled, “Yeah, I’ll take you to an archery range.”

“You told me the last time we went to dinner that you have a little sister.” Killian nodded. “How old is she? I apologize if you told me and I forgot.”

“You don’t need to apologize. She’s twenty-three.”

Journee nodded. “She isn’t much younger than the twins. They’ll be twenty-five in January and February.”

“One just refused to grace the world with her presence before midnight, I see.”

Journee nodded. “Yep. Aariah was born at ten fifty-seven at night, but Aryah didn’t make her arrival until two minutes after midnight.” Killian and Journee both chuckled. “You know, when most people hear they’re twins but have different birthdays, they always look at me like I’m crazy. They never realize that it’s because of the times they were born.”
