“And what about the high school thing?”
He stared down at her for a long moment. “What high school thing? My girl is eighteen. An adult.”
“Your girl, huh?”
“I want to be the only one kissing these lips.” When he kissed her this time, he inhaled her, taking everything she was.
Hadley felt the kiss all the way to her toes. “I think that can be arranged.”
“What about Roman?”
A laugh burst out of her, and she pushed him off as she sat up. “Wait, you think me and Roman are a thing? Gross.”
“He’s always hovering over you.”
“No, he’s hanging out. Because he’s my friend. Like Victoria is to you.”
“You have nothing to worry about where Victoria is concerned.”
She smiled at that and cupped his cheek. “And Roman is just an occasional lover, leaving plenty of time for you.” She got to her feet and dusted off her pants. Spencer stayed seated, staring up at her.
“Fine.” She reached a hand down. “There’s only you. I’ll dump my million other handsome suitors.”
Still, he didn’t move. “Hadley…”
“It was a joke, Spence. You know that, right?”
He swallowed. “I told you there’s nothing between Vic and me, but that wasn’t always true. She wasn’t just my friend. I mean, we were friends most of my life. But we also dated. I thought I was going to marry her one day.”
