"No."

"Gonna need more info, Wylds."

She looked back at him as she opened the door to her suite. "I've been listening to the same track since yesterday, and I need another set of ears to tell me if I'm going crazy." She stopped when she saw Devyn lounging on the couch. "How long have you been there?"

"Oh, you mean you didn't see me when you ran out of here like your hair was on fire?" Devyn lifted one perfect brow. "I don't have to be at the stables until this afternoon."

"Good, then you can both listen. I'll get my computer." She retrieved the laptop off her bed and returned to where Devyn and Killian were sitting together laughing over a TikTok video.

"I have to be at practice in an hour." Killian gestured for her to get on with it. "With our preseason tournament over, we're gearing up for the season to start."

"You'll be glad you came when you hear this." She wedged herself between them and hit play.

The smooth voice coming from her speakers was one that had once spoken to her. She'd been such a fan of Luke Cook's she'd listened to him nonstop, even before the rest of the world knew who he was.

"I know that voice." Devyn leaned in. "Luke Cook, right?"

"Wylder." Killian looked to her. "Did you just bring me here to listen to a new Luke Cook song?"

This was where things got intense. She stared at them both, the corners of her mouth curling up. "Guys... That wasn't Luke. I took a recording with my phone. Of Logan."

"No way." Devyn's eyes lit up in excitement. "I didn't know twins sounded identical."

"They don't." She held up a finger while hitting play on an actual Luke Cook song.

"I don't understand." Killian leaned forward, staring at the screen. "If twins don't sound identical, how do Logan and Luke sound like the same person?"

Wylder had a theory, one she'd been developing since first comparing the two. One that was a little crazy. "What if they are the same?"

Killian laughed. "Wylder, you've seen them together, right? There are two of them."

She bumped his shoulder. "Not what I meant. What do we really know about Logan?"

"Not much." Devyn pursed her lips. "We don't know why he's here or really anything about his life before becoming a Defiance Academy student."

"Exactly." Wylder had spent more time with him than anyone, and there were so many things he kept secret. He'd even alluded to having secrets. "What if the voice, the one the world is in love with..." She sucked in a breath. "What if it's Logan's?"

Silence followed her words.

He'd been so adamant about dropping music class. Was this why? Had he not wanted anyone to find out? But he'd let her record him. What did that mean? He either trusted her or thought she was too much of an idiot to figure it out—probably the latter.

Killian stood. "There's no way."

"Really?" She shut her laptop and put it beside her. "I know it's nuts, bonkers, ridiculous, but... Killer... The evidence is right here in front of us. You can't tell me those two voices aren't the same."

"There has to be an explanation."

Someone knocked on her door, and Killian turned to open it. She heard Logan's voice before she saw him. "I need to talk to Wylder."

Wylder tried to hide the questions in her head when she looked at him. "What's up?"

Logan looked from Wylder to Killian and Devyn, suspicion flashing in his eyes. "Uh... Just wanted to let you know Diego just got back. He stopped by to say he had some time to talk about our project."

"Perfect." She shot to her feet. "Killian has to get to practice, anyway." She took Logan's arm and dragged him past the frozen Killian, hissing "be cool, man."

Awkwardness settled between Wylder and Logan when she released him in the hall, an awkwardness born of her revelations about him and also what he'd learned about her on Friday.

That was probably the bigger one in his mind. He'd learned his partner was his older brother's—their teacher's—ex who was maybe not so ex.
