Yet, he couldn’t help feeling like this feeling wouldn’t last. Even in the beginning, he saw the end. Melanie didn’t give herself to him fully, she didn’t open up. She hadn’t mentioned Justin since the night she confessed her previous marriage, but he knew the guy was never far from her thoughts, always coming first in her heart.

Preventing her from feeling a fraction of what Noah felt for her.

She was going to hurt him, and Noah knew it. But it didn’t stop him from wanting everything.

“Are you even listening to us, Noah?” Drew smirked into the camera.

Ben groaned from his spot next to Noah. “Don’t think about Mel like that when you’re with us.”

Noah grinned. “Can’t help it, mate.”

It was just the three of them this time. Dax had some big meeting with Taylor Swift about their new collaboration. And Jo… well, she was refusing to see any of them right now, claiming she was too grumpy and would say something mean.

Noah had only laughed at that because Jo always said mean things, but he knew it was out of love—not like she’d admit that.

“Where is our lovely Mel?” Drew gave them a pointed look.

“Don’t look at me.” Noah shrugged. “I’m not keeping her captive somewhere. She said she didn’t have time for Rockstars Anonymous today.”

“But she always has time for us.”

“Don’t pout, Drew,” Ben said. “Or we’re hanging up.”

“No! Don’t hang up. I’m bored.”

Noah and Ben shared a look, before Noah laughed. “You’re on a rock tour with your girlfriend—”

“And my girlfriend,” Ben interjected.

“—How on earth are you bored?”

Drew let out a long, dramatic sigh. “I’m supposed to be napping.” He said the words so low and so fast it took a moment for them to register on Noah.

“Napping…”

“Piper’s orders. But now, I can’t fall asleep, and I’m bored.”

Noah used all his energy to hold back a laugh. “You’re Drew Stone. It’s your tour. Just do what you want.”

His eyes widened. “Piper wouldn’t like that.”

“Oh, wow.” Ben leaned forward. “You’re scared of her.”

“Aren’t you?”

Ben didn’t answer, and Noah looked between them. “She’s your assistant, Drew, and your girlfriend, Ben. How am I the only one not scared of Piper?”

Drew relaxed back onto his bed. “Because the only person scarier than Piper is Melanie, and you’re in lurve with her.”

It was on the tip of his tongue to deny it but not to these guys. They’d see right through him just like Jo had. Was he really that transparent?

“Ha.” A laugh boomed out of Drew. “It’s true! Oh, this is fantastic. Should I assume she doesn’t know? I mean, why else would you look so unhappy about it?”

More than anything, he wanted to tell her, to say he didn’t want to get the divorce they’d agreed to eventually. The marriage started out fake, but he wanted to give it a real shot.

Ben elbowed him. “Did you love her when you married her?”

“No.” At least he didn’t think so. “There was something… I wanted her. I know that. But love…” How was he even sure that’s what these feelings were? He wasn’t like Melanie. He’d never had some great epic love before.
