They laugh as the doors slide open, and a few minutes later, we step into their apartment.
And holy shit. I haven’t been to their new home before. The last time I visited, Logan owned a small apartment downtown.
This is nothing like that.
Everything is sleek and modern, floor-to-ceiling windows showing off the city skyline. Plush furniture, state-of-the-art kitchen, the kind of place that belongs in magazines.
Then something gold and fluffy crashes into my legs.
“You got a dog?” I gasp.
“Sunny!” Logan coos, kneeling down to pet the biggest, goofiest golden retriever I’ve ever seen. “Be nice, big guy. That’s your Aunt Maddie.”
“His best friend Daisy talked him into adopting one,” Henry says. “So we have a dog now.”
Sunny’s tail wags like he’s trying to generate electricity, and then he licks my entire shin.
I laugh. “Okay, well. Guess we’re bonded now.”
Henry snorts, carrying my bags. “Better get used to it. He’s an attention whore.”
I kneel down, ruffling his ridiculously soft fur. “Oh, I already love him. Way better than a man.”
“Debatable,” Logan says. Henry laughs and tugs him in for a kiss.
I groan. “Damn, not in front of the single, broken woman.”
Logan pulls back just long enough to grin at me. “Sucks to suck.”
I flip them both off.
Henry laughs, then gestures toward a door down the hall. “Guest room is yours. Settle in. Take a shower. Whatever you need.”
I nod, suddenly exhausted. “Shower first.”
Thirty minutes later, I step out of the steaming bathroom, towel-drying my hair, finally feeling somewhat human again.
I pad into the living room, stretching my arms. “So, what’s for dinner?”
Henry and Logan exchange a look.
I narrow my eyes. “What’s that look?”
Henry sighs, scratching his jaw. “So, uh. We actually have plans tonight.”
Logan winces. “Dinner with some friends.”
“Okay…” I cross my arms. “And?”
Henry shifts. “It’s…Daisy and her husbands.”
I blink. “TheDaisy?”
Henry nods. “Yeah.”
“The hockey players? The ones from the whole viral harem thing?”
“Yep.”
