“Lore…”

“Now let’s go and enjoy our day with the kids, but tonight, I want my mouth somewhere else on your body. If you want that, you know where to find me.”

I kiss her forehead, step away, and then head back into the kitchen.

I’m glad we cleared that up.

Gritting my teeth, I watch as Atiana throws her head back and laughs at something Rune said. She’s been pushing my fucking buttons all day, and I’m about to drag her inside and spank her round little ass. She’s wearing that damn bikini, and I can’t blame the men for checking her out.

She is perfect.

Skull sits on the edge of the pool, showing off his fucking muscles and shoulder-length blond hair, I know all the women like. He looks like a certain character from a popular biker television show.

Dove is in Atiana’s arms, and Rider is splashing about, while I’m finishing a few last things on the new playground set. The clubhouse pool has never been used more than it has since the kids moved in here, and it’s bringing some extra life to the club.

“She doesn’t want you, yet you kicked me out of your bed last night,” Brandy says, coming to stand next to me. She pouts her lips and bats her eyelashes. “You know you’re going to fuck me again, Lore. I just don’t know why you’re making yourself suffer like this.”

“Brandy, I can’t be clearer. There are plenty of men in this clubhouse. I’ve never shown any preference or favorites with the club girls, so I don’t know why you’re so fucking surprised that I’m fine without your pussy,” I grit out between clenched teeth.

I look back at the pool to see Rune say something to Atiana, but her eyes are locked on me.

She’s looking for a reason to push me away, and we both know it.

And I’m not going to give her one.

She’s fighting this connection between us.

But I’m not going to back down, not when I have so much to lose.

Stepping away from Brandy, I walk up to the pool and jump in right next to Rider. He’s playing with a toy boat I bought for him. He also likes the blow-up basketball hoop and ball. He’s sporty and very active, and I love that.

“Lore!” Dove calls out for me, using my name for the first time, and I instantly soften. She holds out her arms for me to take her, and then rests her cheek against my chest when I do. Atiana looks at me, our eyes connecting and holding. She’s about to say something when Bones jumps into the water, splashing us all.

Never in all my time as a Serpents of Chaos MC member have I ever remembered disliking my brothers so much.

ATIANA

I’m cooking dinner when Suit comes up next to me. He’s been really sweet to me, but I can’t decide if he’s just nice, interested in me, or trying to piss off Lore. It might even be a mix of all three.

“Where are the kids?” he asks, caging me in against the counter.

“With Lore, why?” I reply, clearing my throat.

“Just wondering,” he muses, and I notice some red lipstick on his neck. All these men are the same. They are used to having so many options with women and sex that whoever they end up with will have to be extremely secure in their relationship.

I arch my brow at him, reach up, and wipe the mark off his neck for him. “What do you want, Suit?”

“Butterfly, do you know where Rider’s—” Lore stops when he takes in the scene in front of him. Quicker than I can react, he grabs Suit away from me and punches him in the jaw.

Suit stumbles back, lifting his hand to touch what I know is going to be a bad bruise. “We were just talking, Lore. No need to lose your shit.”

“I’ve claimed her. Does that mean nothing around here?” Lore growls, standing in front of me when I take a step forward, blocking my view of Suit.

“I don’t see a property cut on her,” Suit replies in a casual tone, like he’s talking about the weather.

“She’s mine,” Lore barks, losing his temper. “Every time I turn my back, here you are. You want her? Fight me for it.”

I roll my eyes. “Lore?—”
