“You know that’s my favorite compliment to hear.” I grin.
Lore walks in with Dove on his shoulders, the two of them attached at the hip. When he puts her down, she runs over to me and cuddles up next to me. “Baby.”
“Yes, isn’t he adorable?”
Dove runs off to ask the twins something, taking each of their hands in hers. The contrast of this little dark-haired girl standing between two big badass bikers in their leather cuts and bandanas makes me smile.
Lore leans against the wall with his arms crossed, watching me with Zade in my arms, and his possessive look is filled with raw male intensity.
“Think you’ll be having another one soon?” Ora smirks, tucking her long, dark hair back behind her ear. She picks up her bottle of water from the table and takes a sip. “You might just get pregnant from that look alone.”
“I think two is enough for now,” I mutter, gently rocking Zade when he starts to stir.
“I still find it hilarious that Lore, who was known for not even dating women with kids, never mind wanting his own, is looking at you like he’d have you barefoot and pregnant for the rest of your life if he could have his way.” She smirks, shaking her head in amusement. “How the mighty have fallen.”
“Honestly, I can barely believe it myself,” I admit, watching him as he fixes one of Rider’s toys that our son hands him. “I think a lot of it had to do with his childhood. He never even knew who his dad was, and his mom was always choosing men over him.”
“Well, he broke that generational curse,” she says, watching him with a soft look in her blue eyes. “He’s always been there for Lu and me. He’s a good man.”
“He is,” I agree, and as if he can feel my gaze on him, he turns and gives me a wink. Danger comes and sits down on the other side of me, cooing at Zade, and I clear my throat. Living next door to us, he has to have heard things, and I wonder if he regrets moving into that room.
“Danger, how are you?” I ask, making small talk.
“Fine. I’d ask how you are, but it sounds like you’re doing real-fucking-well,” he comments with a grin, making Ora choke on her water.
“I’m sorry,” I blurt out. “It’s not my fault Lore knows what he’s doing. It’s the only perk I get from him being a slut, so let me live my life.”
Danger laughs, and Lore frowns, his eyes narrowing on the two of us. “You can make it up to me by getting me Ana’s phone number.”
Ora leans closer, eyebrows rising. “Who is Ana? What have I missed?”
“She’s Heaven’s little sister. She’s really cool,” I say, leaning back on the couch and studying Danger. “So you don’t want Heaven? Because she’s clearly into you.”
“No, I’m not interested in Heaven like that,” he vows.
“This is huge,” Ora blurts out, pulling out her phone. “I have a baby and miss all the good shit!”
“Don’t message your fucking chat group,” Danger sighs, rubbing the back of his neck. “I should have spoken to you when Ora wasn’t here.”
“What? Lord forbid I report back to headquarters,” she replies with a straight face.
I try to cover up my laugh with a cough.
“But come on, Danger, you never hook up with anyone. So if you like someone, that’s a big deal,” she adds, typing away on her phone.
“I’ll ask her if I can give you her number,” I say, and he grins, flashing those dimples that are definitely going to work in his favor.
“Thank you, Atiana.”
“You’re welcome, Danger. But keep in mind that if she knows her sister likes you, girl code is going to stop her from having anything more than friendship with you.”
He frowns and runs a hand through his curly brown hair. “But I haven’t touched Heaven.”
Ora tries to keep a straight face at that, but her twitching lips show the restraint she’s trying to use.
Lore comes over and stands in front of us, nudging Danger’s boot until he takes the hint and moves away from me. “Danger is not that fucking funny, so what’s going on?”
War comes back inside, his gaze going straight to his old lady and son. He holds out his arms, wanting Zade back. “I know you told me I have to share, baby, but I’m done. Let’s go.”
