Or do something to someone else. She’d taken Genny on a tour of the building once and her most imaginative little sister had had to point that out. Gia had never forgotten that.

“Why do you have to screw everything up?”

She yanked against him. “Let go, Jason. Now.”

“Shut up. Just for once in your life will you just shut up?”

She slammed her foot right into his shin. He shoved her back a little. “Let me go. Two seconds and I’m screaming.”

“Can’t you just keep your mouth shut? I know what your boyfriend’s been doing. And he’s going to pay.”

“What do you think you’re doing?” She arched her back, tried to put her foot out to trip him. The flooring in this part of the building, above the clerks’ offices, creaked and groaned withevery step. If she could make enough noise, someone might call the security guards to check it out. Or…Gia pulled back from him as far as she could—and screamed.

She had always screamed louder than her sisters. She’d do it to freak her older brothers out as a tweenager. They’d come running from all corners of the house to see if she was okay. Because they were overprotective cavemen types.

She loved every one of them so much.

And they were there in the building somewhere.

Her brothers and Hudson were in the building. They would come looking for her soon.

She was going to meet them at the stairs.

Hudson knew something was wrong. He just knew it in his gut. He looked at the three men talking to him now. “I’m going to go find her. She should be back by now.”

“Keeping my baby sister on a short leash?” George asked. “Can’t say I blame you. She tends to find trouble when you don’t.”

Understatement. And Hudson just felt antsy.

Clarke wasn’t anywhere to be seen. Walters was on his cell phone nearby.

The TSP had just left.

The rest of Gia’s brothers were wandering around, talking. He’d appreciated them showing up—he knew what they were doing. And he completely understood.

They were protecting their little sister in the best way they knew how.

Hudson pulled his phone free. Something just didn’t feel right.

Every instinct he had flared.

Where was she?

Jason hadto get out of there. Just to regroup. Plan what to do next.

What to do abouther. She’d go running right to those cops if he let her go right now.

He was going to have to take her with him. Make it clear she was to keep her mouth shut about what had happened two years ago. She wouldn’t like the consequences if she didn’t.

He tightened his hold on her. She was a tall woman, but he wasn’t a small man. And he had two good arms. Jason grabbed her shoulder—the one that was injured. And squeezed.

She cried out. Twisted.

He tightened his hold. The bitch kicked at him again. Jason moved out of the way just in time. But he wasn’t letting go.

“This is kidnapping. And assault. Looking for a little time with three hots and a cot?” She bit at him. Actually tried tobitehim.
