Chapter 15
Sienna
Sienna had just checked the doors one more time, before getting ready for bed.
It was still early, and she was going to read on her couch for a bit when she heard a sound and both her cats came streaking into the room and then down the hallway.
The hairs on the back of her neck rose and she turned to see a man standing in her kitchen.
He followed her into the living room and threatened her with the large knife he held out in front of him.
That was the scariest feeling, having the blade bite into her skin. It terrified her to no end.
She re-lived her parent’s deaths all over again
But when she saw Brek’s eyes flick behind him, she knew that she was going to be okay.
Shoving out of the man’s arms, she watched in horror as Jake turned and slashed across Trace’s stomach, opening the skin there and making blood flow.
The man was familiar to her, but she didn’t know why and when Brek barked at her to call 911 and get him a towel, she did as he asked.
Only to see her worst nightmare come to life. Jake had sat up, just long enough to stab Brek in the side.
Brek had gone still and she could see the pain in his eyes as the knife buried itself in his skin.
She tried to scream out a warning to him, but nothing came out. It never did.
But after Brek shot Jake twice more, and slumped to the side, Sienna ran for him, calling out his name.
It didn’t work and she tried again, her hands shaking as she texted that she needed an ambulance at her house and that she had both the Sheriff and his Deputy’s already here.
She walked to where Brek and Trace lay, and covered Trace’s hands with a towel.
Holding pressure on his wound the best she could.
Trace opened his eyes, and when she looked into them, she gasped.
It was her brother. He was older, more mature and someone she never thought she would see ever again. She thought he had died. Was told he had.
Trace’s eyes were unfocused, because of the pain he was in, but when he locked eyes with her, he tried to smile.
“Sienna. It is you. I found you. Thank God. After all this time. I finally found you.”
Then he passed out. She sobbed, and a sound came out as she did so.
Holding pressure with one hand on Trace’s wound and making certain Brek still breathed with the other, trying to not jostle the knife still sticking from his side, Sienna just sat in the middle of the men she loved and sobbed.
When the sirens rang out in the night, Sienna wept harder.
They were here. The EMT’s ran in the room and they looked at what happened and instantly jumped into action.
Two men came over to them and took over for her on Trace, while the other checked Brek.
“We need to get him to the hospital right away.”
She nodded and the EMT’s called for another ambulance and loaded Brek up on a stretcher.
She followed behind him, sobbing as he was led away.
