The nurse nodded and handed it to him. “Gonna check on your little girlfriend? She is a busy one, going back and forth between your room and the man down the hall. Seems as though you have some competition.”
Brek furrowed his eyebrows together, “She's seeing Trace?”
The nurse nodded, “Sure is. You know, you are more handsome than he is. I could show you a real good time.”
Brek leaned back in his bed, away from the woman. “No thank you. I am happy with my girl. I would never want anyone but her.”
The nurse glared at him, “I just wanted to give you a heads up about your cheating girlfriend. Not everyone can see the catch right in front of them.”
Brek rolled his eyes, “Trace is my Deputy and he helped save my fiancé’s life. She is most likely checking on him. And you know what? It’s not any of your business anyway. I will be telling your supervisor about this.”
She sneered and walked out of the room, but she didn’t see the doctor standing on the other side of the curtain until it was too late.
“This is the second time this has happened Charity. You need to turn in your resignation. I won’t be giving you a reference letter unless you leave today. You don’t hit on patients or try to make them question things when they hardly know what is going on around them.”
She stomped her foot, “What? That isn’t fair.”
The doctor leaned down, “I guarantee it is more than fair. I don’t have to help you get another job by giving you a reference, but I am. Leave. You are finished here.”
She stomped off, and the doctor looked at Brek, “I apologize for her behavior. She should never have talked to you like that. Your fiancé has been visiting her brother.”
Brek’s confusion grew and the doctor walked out of the room after apologizing another time.
Brek sat back, her brother. That was why Trace was so weird about Sienna.
He was her brother. So that meant that while Sienna had believed that her brother died, he hadn’t.
Brek grabbed his phone that the nurse had handed him and texted Sienna, knowing she wouldn’t get it for a while.
Brek: I love you. I wish you didn’t go home. I don’t like it. You being alone I mean.”
Brek: I also know about Trace. He is your brother?
Sienna: I love you too. I didn’t go home. Your parents had me come to their house. I promise I am safe. And yes, I was going to tell you tomorrow that Trace is my brother. When you said his name, I wondered if it was him. His name isn’t very common, but I thought he died. Even if I hoped he lived. I believed there was no way. So, I left it alone.
Brek: I wish I had been awake when you found out. I know Trace has had some hard times. But he never told me everything. Even though I have known him for years.
Sienna: I didn’t know that. I hope he finally tells you. I hate that he and I both went through a lot and didn’t have each other to lean on.
Brek: Neither of you are alone anymore.
Sienna: I know. I am so happy for that Brek. I love your parents.
Brek: They love you. I can’t wait to be out of here. I want to have you in my arms. To wake up with you in my bed.
Sienna: I want to wake up with you too.
Brek: I hope you know how much I miss being with you.
Sienna: I know. Soon. You need to heal.
Brek: For how long? I finally got a taste of your pussy and now I have to give it up.
Sienna: Brek! Stop making me blush. I am going to sleep. I will see you in the morning.
Brek: But my love…
Sienna: No. We can’t. But I promise when you are better, we will.
