He gave a soft chuckle. “Yeah. You would be surprised. Not a lot happens in our small town. Aside from the break-ins that is. Since then? It has been nothing but quiet.”
She smiled, “Well thank you. It would have taken me all day to get those boxes out. I would have had to leave them in there for a while. I’m supposed to get Grandma Viv soon.”
Trace lips tipped upward, and his handsome smile made her swoon inside, “You're welcome. Anytime. Welcome to Silver Springs.”
She watched as he turned and walked back to his car to leave. But she couldn’t let him. Not yet. “Trace, I mean Deputy Barker, can I take you out for coffee or something as a thank you?”
He grinned when he turned, “It’s just Trace to you. And I can do you one better. Will you go to dinner with me?”
She nodded and he chuckled. “When? I don’t want to intrude if you have to spend time with your grandmother,”
She shook her head, “Tomorrow is fine. My grandma is a firecracker. She will be fine on her own for an hour or two.”
“If you're sure, then how about I pick you up around 6?”
She nodded. “I can’t wait.”
