She hung up the phone and radioed to someone. “Scott, Mrs. Black can’t find her dog. I told her you would come by.”

Emery didn’t hear the reply, but the woman smiled. “Thanks Scott. You are a lifesaver.”

The woman smiled over at them, “Sorry about that. Life as a police dispatcher. Can I help you?”

“Emery? Are you alright? What are you doing here?” She heard Trace say and her grandma whispered in her ear, “You weren’t lying when you said he was sexy.”

Trace walked over to them and lifted her up in a hug, then he dipped her softly and kissed her.

She shut her eyes, savoring his lips on hers. Oh boy how she had missed him today.

It still floored her that she was so comfortable around him and that it seemed as if she had known him forever.

When he let her up, he kept his arm around her, “This is such a nice surprise.”

She smiled up at him, snuggled into his side and loving it. “Well, my grandma and I were at the cafe next door, and,”

He cut her off and held out his hand to Grandma Viv. “I’m Trace. And so glad to see you're doing better.”

He kissed Grandma’s hand softly when she held hers out to shake, and Grandma went pink. Emery loved how taken she was with him and bit her lip to keep her laugh inside.

Trace kissed her temple softly after letting Grandma’s hand go, and Grandma said, “Thank you Trace. I'm glad too. Thank you for helping me that night.”

Trace nodded, “You're welcome. My only wish is that we were there sooner.”

Grandma waved him away, “You were there in time to save me. That’s all that matters.”

Trace smiled and then looked down at her, “I apologize for cutting you off, I just didn’t want to leave your Grandma out of the conversation. Keep going please.”

Emery leaned up and kissed him softly, then said, “Well, Mila said that you guys are hiring? I need a job and was thinking about applying to different places in town.”

The girl behind the desk spoke up, “Really? Oh my goodness, Trace. Please. I would love some help.”

Trace laughed and made her body shake with it. He smelled good still and all she could do was snuggle into his side and breathe his scent in deeper.

“If you would like a job here, it's yours. We haven’t had anyone apply besides Stacy and we have run her ragged. So please, I would love that, and I know she would too. Brek wouldn’t mind the help either.”

Emery grinned. “Okay! Yay! This is exciting. When do you want me to start?”

Trace leaned down and kissed her, “Tomorrow?”

She nodded, “That works for me. Do I need to fill out an application?”

Trace shook his head, and looked at Stacy, who also shook her head. “No. We trust you.”

She gave him another smile, “Alright. Thank you.”

Trace gave her another kiss, “Have fun with your grandma today. If you still need to help her tomorrow, text me okay? We have gone this long without another person to help Stacy; we can go a little longer.”

Stacy nodded, “Yep. I totally got this. But wouldn’t mind the help when it comes.”

Emery looked at her Grandma, who waved her way. “I'm just fine to be by myself while she comes to work. I know how to take care of myself. The situation from earlier was a complete and total freak occurrence.”

Trace nodded, “It was. But don’t worry. If Em needs to come home during the day to help, she can. As can I. We are all here for you now.”

Grandma Viv smiled at him and then leaned over to whisper, “He is a keeper. Sexy and kind? You hold onto him girl.”

Emery bit her lip and nodded. “Well, I am going to get Grandma home. We need to get her settled.”
