Chapter 10

Trace

After helping Emery get dressed and then dressing himself, he kissed her one last time and picked up the blanket and the food.

They walked back to his car and he held her hand the entire way.

“I want to take you out again. You are my woman after all.”

She laughed, “Of course. When?”

“Tomorrow?”

She nodded, “Tomorrow.”

Her phone chimed in her lap and she looked down at it, and her face went pale.

Trace immediately grew concerned, “What’s wrong Em?”

She shook her head and Trace pulled the car to the side of the road, “Nothing is wrong.”

He turned in his seat, “You are lying. Someone sent you a text and you went pale as a ghost. Something is wrong. Is it your stalker? Did he find you?”

She gaped at him, “Who told you about my stalker?”

Trace raised an eyebrow, “Kian did. But you should have Sunshine. This guy has done something to you that scares you. And that in turn scares me. I am here to protect you now, and you need to tell me everything he has done.”

She started shaking her head, but he cupped her cheeks in his hands, “Em, I told you everything about my life. It’s time you told me about yours. I made you mine, nothing you say will change that.”

Her eyes were liquid and she nodded. “Okay. It started a few months ago. I used to have a business selling things I made on the internet. It did well and kept me busy. And I loved it. But then a guy reached out to me and asked me to make him something. He wanted some of the dolls ripped open and my blood dripped on them. Not just blood from my arm or finger. He wanted a certain type of blood. The kind you have on your, um, member right now.”

Trace felt his eyebrows lift and the anger flow through him that that man would dare want her to do something like that.

She went on, “He was so creepy, and I blocked him. But he kept making new emails demanding his dolls and if I didn’t make them something bad would happen to me. He kept saying I was his and would tell me the things that he wanted to do to me.”

She looked down at her clenched hands and said, “I shut down my website, hoping it would be the end. But it wasn’t. He found out my phone number somehow and started sending me messages that got darker and darker with each text. Sent me pictures of him masturbating to pictures that he had printed of me. Messages about how he would hurt me and how he couldn’t wait for that day because I dared to disobey him. I showed my brothers and they were both upset. Which I understood. I was too. I was terrified and Kian and Reid made me get a new phone number, but he must have figured it out because he sent me this.”

She turned the phone in his direction, and it had an unknown number, which said: You tried to run and that only angered me more. I found you. I am coming for you. You ARE mine.

Trace sucked in a breath, “You need to call Reid and Kian. Right now. They need to know the situation.”

She shook her head, “I don’t want to worry them. And it’s fine. He doesn’t know where I am.”

Trace shook his head so violently it hurt, “He does know where you sunshine. If he got a hold of your phone number, he knows. He isn’t stupid and I don’t want you to try to brush this off. This isn't nothing. And Reid and Kian need to know.”

She looked over at him, anger written all over her face, “You're not my father or my brothers Trace. You don’t get to tell me what to do. He has never done anything other than send me a few things. It’s nothing. Geez. I hate that Kian even told you.”

Trace growled, “You don’t get it do you?”

He reached for her and gave her a gentle shake, “You could be killed! He doesn’t seem as if he is sane, and for you to brush it off scares me more than anything. I am glad Kian told me, otherwise I would have been in the dark about this. And that I can’t handle. I am a cop Em. I have been for years and while I don’t work in a big city and see all of the crime most do, I have seen my fair share of insane people. People that don’t believe for one minute that they are insane. This man is the same. Do you think the man that murdered my parents and tried to murder my sister and I was sane? Do you realize how we all pleaded for him to spare us? It didn’t even slow him down. And I know nothing this man that is threatening you will do is the same.”

He let her go and ran a hand through his hair, “Sunshine, I love you. I do. I know it's soon and crazy but I don’t care. And I am angry that you would care so little about the woman I love that you would dare put her in danger like this when you could call your brothers and let them know.”

He got out of the car and shut the door quietly and walked up and down the road, his hands behind his head, and his emotions all over the place.

He was so upset with this situation and the fact that she didn’t seem to be bothered by it.

He had seen the worst humanity had to offer in the man that killed his parents without remorse and the people that raised him as their own.
