And still Brek and he worked together well.

They worked together for a while and because of that Trace finally felt comfortable around another person and made a friend for the first time in his life.

His ‘parents’ never allowed him to make friends and kept him close when they could.

So, when he got to know Brek it was amazing to him, being his deputy was something he had never dreamed was possible and he was happy to start putting down roots.

And he lived there for two years. It was quiet and nice.

Brek’s parents practically adopted him and he wanted nothing more than to accept their love, because he didn’t feel whole.

And he felt that he was betraying his parents' memory.

He knew it was crazy, but he felt if he could find his sister, then he would feel whole.

But still, week after week and year after year he was no closer to finding his sister than he had from the start.

He'd once gone to the home they had lived in, and it hurt, but was also so wonderful to see that another family had moved into the house and was making memories in the house that was so happy.

He'd even gone to the small town where they had been killed, and it broke something inside of him to drive past the part of the woods where the house was, and he noticed it had been knocked down.

He was grateful and when he stood on the ground where it had been, he was able to say goodbye to his parents and told them that he would do what was necessary to find Sienna.

But when he visited their graves, he got the shock of his life to see his name along with theirs on the tombstone.

When he had gotten his birth certificate it hadn’t listed his death date, so he assumed no one had updated it, or something. He had no answers but was grateful that he hadn’t been listed as dead.

After he had left Gary and Shelly’s house, he'd been able to get his license, his social security card and he hadn’t been stopped in the process of either.

Sienna’s name was missing, and he knew she was still alive. It bolstered him.

He left his parents flowers on their grave and once again vowed to them that he would find his sister if it was the last thing he did and he told them how much he missed them, how he was sorry for getting lost and how he loved them.

And then he said goodbye. Putting this part of his past in the past and moving forward with the new life he was living as the Deputy Sheriff in Silver Springs, Colorado.

They lived a quiet existence for a year or so until one day their town was shaken by the string of random break-ins.

When they started happening, he, Jake and Brek struggled to find who was doing it.

Nothing made sense to any of them and it was so frustrating to them all.

Until Brek went on a call and met his girl. And it shocked him so greatly when Brek told him her name was Sienna.

He knew her name was quite common, so he tried his hardest not to get his hopes up, but then Brek explained that she had lost her voice in a terrible situation.

Trace knew it was her. But yet he still had reservations. He wanted nothing more than to meet her, but he was still so nervous that it wasn’t really her.

He knew that thought was insane, that there couldn’t be two girls with the same situation, but he had waited so long to find her that it terrified him.

Brek didn’t understand and he didn’t either. He just didn’t want to be heartbroken all over again if it turned out not to be her.

He actually drove over to her house one night but stayed in his car on the road. Just watching her house and knowing that it could be her.

He wished then that he was able to have a picture of his family. To be one hundred percent certain that it was her.

Even though his soul was telling him that it was her. That he was being a dumb ass and he needed to see her.

Then she had been in danger. And his reservations had flown out the window. He needed to protect her as much as Brek did.
