The nurse turned and left, and Emery turned to the man still standing at her bedside.

Looking into his green eyes, something sparked in her memory and she almost jolted with recognition.

Flashes of memory came back, him catching her before she fell, him kissing her softly in the darkness on a soft blanket. Him making love to her on that same blanket, the moon and stars their light.

Him telling her he loved her. Him, standing on a board trying to save her and caught in a trap instead.

The blast that threw her backwards, causing her to hit her head and blackout.

“Trace? You are okay?”

His face crumpled with relief as she said his name and he dropped to his knees by her bed, picking up her hand softly and kissing the back of it over her bandages over and over.

She felt some wetness there and cupped his face in her hand, making him turn to look at her. “What's wrong my love?”

He shook his head, his eyes filled with tears and his voice husky with them. “I almost lost you. And when you woke earlier you didn’t know who I was. I was scared you wouldn’t remember me. And that it was over.”

She tried to sit up, and managed that, “I'm so sorry I didn’t remember you at first. My heart did though.”

She felt the tears sting her eyes as she remembered how scared she had been but knew it would be alright the minute that Trace found her.

He leaned forward and kissed her softly and cupped her face in his hand, which she leaned into.

“I love you Sunshine. I love you.”

She smiled through her tears, “I love you too. So much. Thank you for being my hero.”

He looked up at her, “I will always be yours. Whatever it is, I will be yours forever. Marry me sunshine.”

She gave a small gasp and nodded, “I would love to marry you.”

He grinned and kissed her softly again. “I haven’t gotten your ring yet, but I will. I want everyone to know you are claimed.”

She gave a slight laugh and then the door to her room opened again and the doctor came in.

He was older, with greying hair and kind eyes.

“Well, it looks like you know more than you did earlier. Let’s check everything out to see how you're faring.”

Trace stood up and off to the side, and as the doctor checked her eyes and her burns, he listened to everything and asked questions about how to help her heal the best.

And she fell in love with him more. She hated that she hadn’t remembered him for a while there and causing him any stress.

When the doctor showed her the blisters on her hands and how to put the medicine on them, she watched as Trace kept his eyes on the medicine the entire time.

The doctor told her she would be able to leave in two days. They wanted to make sure she didn’t get an infection in any of her wounds.

And she nodded, and then gasped. “Reid! Oh my god, is Reid alright?”

Trace looked to the doctor and he looked bewildered but gave a small nod.

“He is in isolation because of his burns, and has had surgery on his shoulder and back, but he will recover. We all have high hopes.”

She burst into tears, “Can I see him?”

Trace put his hand on her shoulder and the doctor shook his head, “Right now he can’t have many visitors. But you can see him tomorrow. I'll make sure you can. Okay? But you also need to get well, so you need to get the sleep you can. We have to check on you more because of your concussion.”

She nodded and wiped at the tears on her face, “Can Trace go see him?”
