Chapter 3
Kian
Moving to Silver Springs was great and all, until they found out that Emery had been kidnapped.
And then seeing his soon to be brother in law almost give it all up, lose it all to save them was something that pushed Kian right over the edge of sanity.
Trace had lived, but Reid had been badly hurt saving his life.
Kian had his pride bruised and was pissed that Emery had punched him to get away and help Trace.
She too was injured and by damnit, it was not something he ever wanted to see again.
Reid still had a few weeks in the burn unit and was only allowed two visitors at a time.
And after the talk he had with Trace, he began to form a plan.
Karalee was moving here. Which to him was a relief, since he wanted to get her from their town anyway and was planning to go before the whole kidnapping thing.
She was finally back within reach and he wanted nothing more than to let her know that he was an idiot and to hopefully get her to forgive him.
To get her to realize that their love could finally be. And that he couldn’t wait to make her his.
When Karalee drove into town, he was ready and waiting to help her. To get started on his plan to get her to forgive him. And as she started to unpack her car and set up her things in Emery’s room, he got into her car and started helping her unpack it.
She ran right into him as he was bringing a big box in and she gasped and then looked down at her toes, “Oh, Kian. Hi. I was just unpacking that. I can take it if you want.”
He grinned and shook his head, “I got it. Let me handle the rest.”
She looked up at him, finally meeting his eyes, the wariness in them and the distrust in him, hurting more than he realized.
She shook her head, “I'm just fine. Thank you. I can do it.”
He shook his head, “I know you can. But I am gonna help you. So just tell me where you want this and we will get you all settled.”
Karalee had huffed out an annoyed sound and rolled her eyes at him.
She pointed to the room and he put the box down on the edge of it and then walked back out to her car to get a few more.
She had her arms crossed over her chest and her eyebrow raised in consternation.
She was not happy and it came across loud and clear.
When he finished with her boxes, he offered to bring her to the hospital.
Emery had one more night there, and Karalee huffed once again. “I can drive there by myself.”
Just then Trace pulled into the driveway and it was all Kian could do to keep the smile on his face.
Trace opened the door, and smiled, “Karalee, do you want a ride to the hospital?”
She nodded and walked to Trace’s car and Kian held back a growl but knew it would take time for her to trust him again.
He watched Trace drive away with the love of his life and followed behind.
He wanted to see Reid anyway.
When he went to Emery’s room, Trace had shown Karalee the way and they were not the only ones there. Ailith and Gran were as well. Emery was asleep in the bed.
