Chapter 6
Karalee
As soon as his lips touched hers, she let out another gasp and he took that advantage and slowly stroked his tongue into her mouth.
She let out a small moan, which he swallowed down and gave one of his own.
When she let her tongue touch his, he groaned and fisted her hips hard in his hands.
Their tongues dueled and then she pushed him away.
He was breathing hard and she noticed the prominent bulge in his black tuxedo pants.
“Did I push you too fast? I didn’t mean to Kara.” He said and she shook her head, “I just need to think. I'm scared Kian. Of what you make me feel.”
He took a few steps closer to her and put his forehead to hers again.
He kissed her nose softly and then her lips. “I'm scared too. It’s a good scared. I'm so ready to start our future. I have been ready for a long time and I want to earn your trust and your love. I want to be your best friend again because you are mine. I have missed our talks under the stars and how you looked at me with such trust and love in your eyes. I ruined it. I know I did. And I will keep trying to get you to forgive me. I love you. I always have. And I always will.”
He kissed her one more time and then dropped his hands from her hips and stepped back.
“Are you ready to go back to the wedding?”
She gave a small nod, hating that he looked so good, his lips slightly swollen and wet from their kisses.
And that his hair was a mess. Because of her fingers.
He ran his through his hair, straightening it and then very respectfully walked next to her back to the wedding and then left to stand next to Reid.
Reid had been up and walking all day and Karalee could see that he was sagging at the table and that his face was pinched with pain.
She knew with his still healing wounds that wearing a shirt and jacket all day would probably bother them, but he had been stoic all day and had done his best to be present for his sister.
She saw that he had dropped half a piece of cake on his pants and had tried to brush it off, but had made it worse.
It crumbled and fell apart and the frosting just stuck to the dark fabric.
He was getting frustrated and every time he tried to move his bad arm, he had to bite back something.
She felt for him and Ailith and Mila hurried to his side.
Ailith’s face got angry when Reid said something to Mila and Karalee could see Mila blush.
Reid was sagging against his mother and Mila put his other arm around her shoulders and helped bring him to his room in Brek’s parent’s house.
She felt for Reid and wanted nothing more than to help him but knew Ailith had it covered.
Ken went after them and she knew Reid was in good hands.
She sat in her chair and watched as Kian walked around the edge of the party and then he sat on a chair.
He was looking down at his hands and then running his fingers through his hair over and over.
She hated how defeated he looked. And she knew it was her fault.
When she told him that she hadn’t had the chance to think about the stuff he had told her, it was a lie.
It was all she thought about. Every single day. She knew how badly he felt for hurting her and she understood why Ailith had asked him to wait.
