Mila grinned, “What’s happening Kian? What can I get you?”

Kian grinned, trying to keep the sadness that Karalee was nowhere to be found from his eyes, “Can I get two burgers and fries to-go?”

She nodded, “Coming right up.”

Kian smiled, “Did Reid say something to you that was really inappropriate? I'll have to beat his ass.”

Mila blushed and then shook her head, “He was in so much pain and had spilled some cake on his pants. He ruined them by rubbing it in trying to get it off. And he asked for some help. That was all. Your ma thought he was being inappropriate, but he wasn’t. He's so cute.”

Kian raised his eyebrows, “Cute? Okay. Sure. Cute. That isn’t something I have heard about Reid before.”

Mila rolled her eyes, “Do you want me to tell you that he is the most handsome man I have ever seen? Because he is that.”

Kian snorted, “Sure, only if I can tell him.”

Mila narrowed her eyes at him, “Not a chance.”

She hit him in the arm and Kian laughed, “But, I finally have dirt. I can’t tell him just a little?”

He gave a fake pout and Mila laughed, “No! It would embarrass me so bad.”

Kian shook his head and smiled, “Fine. I won’t tell him, but I doubt that he'll stay away for long. Now that he has seen you, that’s it.”

She bit her lip, “You think so?”

Kian scoffed, “I know so.”

She hugged him and he hugged her back. “Welcome to the family.”

She snickered and then went to put his order in.

When he looked up Karalee was looking at him with anger on her face.

He gave her a confused look and then it dawned on him that she was mad that he had hugged Mila.

She turned and went into the kitchen and he followed.

Grandpa Joe was cooking, and Granny Beth had her arms up to her elbows in dough.

She raised her eyebrows and Karalee walked right past them to the door that led outside.

She didn’t know he was right behind her and when she went outside, she put her head down and was whispering to not get her hopes up about him, that he had this kind of track record.

He came up behind her and put her arms around her waist and she jumped.

She looked back at him and then tried to push out of his arms.

“Let me go Kian. Right now.”

He shook his head, “You're upset, and I know it’s because I hugged Mila. I only hugged her because Reid is in love with her and I welcomed her to the family. That is all.”

She pushed out of his arms and folded hers over her chest.

Then she raised her eyebrow, “Okay. I just worried. She is beautiful.”

Kian nodded, “She is; however, she has nothing on you.”

Karalee’s cheeks flamed and he smiled.
