Chapter 9

Karalee

She'd been nervous as she got ready tonight, but as soon as she opened the door and saw his beloved face, her nerves fled.

She couldn’t wait to go on their date tonight and tell him her feelings.

He deserved that. He really did. She thought more of all the things he'd done over the years and how she had missed all the signs that he still wanted her but was trying to restrain himself.

She loved it and loved him. When he kissed her softly, and then ran around the car her heart started to pound.

This man was everything and she'd been so stubborn for so long that she didn’t even know why she deserved him now.

As he drove, he picked up her hand and kissed the back of it, and he held it in his hand as he drove.

“Where are we going?” She asked and he smiled, “It’s a surprise. I’m kinda kidnapping you.”

She laughed, “Kidnapping me? I came with you willingly!”

Kian chuckled, “I know. But this sounds more fun.”

She shook her head and then Kian pulled up to a quaint little house and she instantly fell in love with it.

“Whose house is this?” She asked and Kian grinned. “It’s ours.”

She gasped and looked over at him, “What?”

His smile didn’t slip, “Yep. I bought it from Brek. I wanted to put down real roots here. I feel like this town is our future.”

She bit her lip, “I feel like that too.”

He leaned over and kissed her, “Do you want to see inside?”

She nodded. He got out of his car and walked around to open her door, then led her to the front door, where he handed her a key.

She unlocked the door and then let out a squeal as he swung her in his arms and walked through the front door.

“What are you doing?” She laughed as he brought her into the living room.

“I'm carrying my girl over the threshold. This will be where we start our lives. I thought it was only fitting.”

She smiled at him and when he set her down in the empty living room, she looked around with confusion.

He noticed, “I wanted to make sure that you were able to pick out what you wanted. This is your house as much as it's mine. It did come with furniture, and I can have it, but I had to ask for your opinion too.”

She grinned then walked up to him and cupped his face in her hands, “I love that. Thank you for thinking of me.”

His eyes went soft and filled with love, “I have thought of nothing but you for years.”

She melted against him then he pulled her into the kitchen. It had matching barstools and a lovely wooden dining room table.

The kitchen had dark wood cabinets and she immediately fell in love with it.

Kian sat her in one of the chairs and immediately started cooking in the kitchen.

He poured her a glass of water and as he cooked a simple meal of spaghetti and garlic bread, he turned to look at her, “Am I scaring you with this? I don’t want to overwhelm you.”

She smiled at him, “You aren’t. I promise. Do you want to finish asking me what you wanted to?”
