Karalee let out a laugh, and Kian chuckled, “I sure did. We will come as soon as we can. We have a previous need that will take an extra day, is that okay?”

“Yeah. It is. Just get here soon. She wants to talk to you.”

“I will be there. You can finally meet my girl and I want to talk to Isabelle.”

He looked at Karalee and she said, “We can wait another day to claim her body. Okay? Go. Take care of what you need to.”

Kian put the phone back to his ear, “Gray, I guess we will be there sooner, rather than later. See you soon.”

“Thank heavens. See you soon.”

He hung up and Kian put his phone down and picked up Karalee’s hand.

“Are you sure?” He asked and she nodded, “Kian, she woke up after this long. And she wants to thank you. We can worry about my mom’s body later. This takes precedence right now. Okay? Are you going to leave me behind though? That was the plan. To have me stay somewhere.”

He kissed her hand, “I want you to come with me to Chicago. Okay? You can stay with Gray after.”

She let out a sigh and nodded, “Okay. Deal. I like being with you and knowing that I don’t have to stay behind is everything.”

He kissed her hand again and they drove as quickly as they could to Chicago.

They didn’t stop again, and Karalee slept for a few hours and then took over so he could as well.

He wanted to hold her and make love to her, but right now this was more important.

So, they just drove and stopped only when necessary for gas, food and the bathroom.

They made it the next day, in the early afternoon.

Kian drove straight to Gray’s house and he and Graham walked out of the door when he pulled into their driveway.

He hurried around to Karalee’s door and opened it for her and then helped her out.

Gray walked up to them and hugged him. “Oh man, Kian. It has been a long time. Come on in, let’s talk.”

Gray looked at Karalee, “Damn. She is even more beautiful in person. It’s not even fair.”

Karalee blushed and Gray held out his hand and then kissed the back of it.

Kian growled and Karalee laughed, and Kian pulled her hand free from Gray’s grip.

Gray laughed and Graham punched his brother in the arm, “Don’t piss off Kian. He just got here. Wait for a minute at least. You have seen how he can kick your ass.”

Gray shook his head, then flexed his arm, which made Kian roll his eyes.

“I have bigger guns than him.”

Graham snorted, “I have seen Kian when he was practicing with Reid. And the other officers. He would kick your ass Gray.”

Gray hung his head and then winked at Karalee. “Fine.”

Kian snorted and the two brothers led them into their house and Kian hugged Graham when they got inside.

Gray gestured for them to sit and he sat in a large chair and Graham leaned his shoulder against the wall.

“You told me that Reid had been in an accident. What happened?”

Kian looked at Karalee and then at his friends.
