Chapter 14
Kian
They went to sleep, and it was all he could do to not take his girl, but he also didn’t want Gray or Graham to hear her cries when she came.
So, he held her in his arms and then when they woke, she would stay with Graham and he and Gray would go to the hospital.
He called Reid last night and his brother had begged to have them call him on Facetime so he could talk to Isabelle as well.
Kian had readily agreed, and the two men left after he received a quick kiss from Karalee’s sweet lips.
Walking into the hospital he hadn’t seen in months was something he was glad he hadn’t had to see.
He needed to close this final chapter and would do all he could to do so.
As he and Gray walked to Isabelle’s room, and Gray knocked on the door, he felt nervous.
When a soft, “Come in,” was heard from inside, Kian pushed his shoulders back and the men walked inside.
Isabelle looked better. There were no bruises to mar her face now and the cuts had been sewn up so well that you could hardly see the scars.
She had lost weight but looked good.
Her hair was brushed and pulled into a braid and her husband sat at her side.
When he saw who it was, he grinned, “Detective Collins. How are you? It’s so good to see you.”
Isabelle watched him, “This is one of the men who found me?”
Her voice was quiet and raspy, and when she looked at her husband he nodded. “Yes, he and his brother were the men who found you.”
Isabelle looked back at him and smiled. Her eyes wrinkled slightly with it and she lifted her hand and beckoned him forward.
Roger stood from his chair and hugged him, and then made him sit in the same seat.
He took Isabelle’s hand and she squeezed it. “Thank you for saving me. For finding me.”
He smiled at her, “You are very welcome.”
He pulled his phone out, “My brother was the one to pull you out of the dumpster. Is it okay if we call him?”
She nodded and Roger did as well, and Kian called Reid’s Facetime account.
In seconds, his brother's face filled the screen. He looked tired, and his burns looked better today.
“Kian, hey man. Are you there? Is she okay?”
Kian grinned, “See for yourself.”
Then he turned the icon to the other camera and Isabelle smiled, “You pulled me from the dumpster?”
Kian heard Reid say, “I did. We heard your soft moan and I couldn’t leave you in there.”
Isabelle’s eyes welled up, “Thank you. You have no idea what that means to us. Really.”
Reid said, “It was our pleasure. We only wished you hadn’t gone through that. Do you remember what happened at all?”
She nodded, “Today it seems better. Easier to remember.”
