Chapter 16
Kian
As they drove to the town Kian had lived in his entire life, he knew that he needed to take care of this.
Just as he said. He didn’t want this hanging over their heads like a cloud anymore.
The closer they got to town, Kian started to shift his focus.
He knew they still needed to go claim Lenora’s body, but that needed to wait.
As they got to his old house, Kian got his gun out and ready to go, giving one to Gray.
He was ready for anything. Had to be prepared for any possibility.
He and Gray drove a half a block away to Karalee’s house and then walked.
Kian signaled to Gray to go around the back and then he looked in one of the windows that had a small crack in the blinds.
What he saw made him angry. Lenora was in the house. Alive. She was in the kitchen, smoking a cigarette and damn if that didn’t rankle him.
He had a bad feeling the entire time after Karalee had tried to leave and he was grateful that he had come with.
Especially finding this out. That Lenora was just the bait for her daughter to come back home.
Kian was good and done with this and moved around the side of the house and to the garage.
The door was locked, but with a well-placed kick, it opened, and he slipped inside. What he found in there also wasn’t what he was expecting.
There were tables that were filled with drugs. Cocaine, meth and more.
He felt his stomach drop and took a few pictures and then put a call into the cops here.
He told them about the situation and then ended the call.
He had let them know that this needed to be a silent take down or it would end badly.
As he walked toward the door that led inside, it opened and a man came out, his gun drawn, and shooting him in the meat of his arm and sneering at him.
“Thought you could come in here and sniff, around did you? You thought wrong.”
Kian had put his gun away when he was taking pictures and cursed inside.
The pain of the shot through his arm was not registering fully yet, but he felt the blood soak his shirt and slowly drip down his arm.
He did his best to hold his hands up, “Just taking a look around.”
Carlos sneered at him again, “Looking around gets people shot in this house. Did you need more than one?”
Kian shook his head and then Carlos cocked his head, “I know you. You’re one of the Collin’s boys.”
Kian didn’t answer, just stood there with his hands up, blood dripping down his arm and to the ground below and Carlos glared at him, “You're a fucking cop! I should have shot you somewhere else. Damn it, Lenora, get your ass out here and help me tie this fucker down.”
Lenora hurried from the house and with Carlos’ gun still trained on him, Lenora grabbed his arm and propelled him into the house.
She pushed him into a chair and Kian sat, doing his best to move where they wanted him, and keeping the pain off his face as he did. Knowing that if he didn’t want to be there in that house, he wouldn’t be.
He was recording everything on his phone and knew that the small microphone he had clipped to the back of his jeans was also picking up what was happening.
