The guys were there, standing around them in a circle and she didn’t notice until now.

The police chief was standing behind the circle, his arms crossed over his chest.

“I need to talk to the witnesses. Find out what in the actual hell happened here.”

Kian tapped Sebastian on the shoulder and Sebastian gave him a grin and then they moved.

Kian led her out of the house, and she looked back at the house of horrors.

Through all the hell she had endured, hating that she lived the life she did, she never knew that her mother actually loved her.

It was sad to her that Lenora had only confessed it to her as she was dying, but it meant something to Karalee.

As she said her final goodbye to the house she had always hated, she let out a prayer of thanks to whoever was keeping them safe.

Kian led her to an ambulance where he was checked over, his wound sewn up, because the bullet had gone right through, and then let go.

The chief glared at her, and she told him what happened, but Kian had the damning evidence in the recording device that he had.

The chief was able to hear it all. Because while they waited for her to arrive, Carlos told Kian in explicit detail what he would do to her and make her do for him after he ‘broke her in’.

He told Kian of the prostitutes he had all over the state and where to find them and how he sold drugs all over as well.

He even was stupid enough to tell Kian what towns were the busiest for the drugs as well as which ones had the best business for his girls.

The cops were busy pulling out all the drugs from the garage and in the basement, where they also found a few young girls who had been tied up.

They had bruises on their arms and were shaking, and terrified, but alive.

They hadn’t been touched by Carlos yet, he had been waiting on her to break her in first, and that was Karalee’s only moment of relief.

She watched as the guys took careful care of the girls they had found and when each girl was transported to the hospital, she was relieved their pain was finally through and that Carlos hadn’t ruined them for life.

Not like he had so many others. These girls had been lucky in that tiny regard and she was grateful for the small mercy.

They would go through a lot to recover and she could only hope and pray that they were able to.

One of the girls looked at her and then beckoned her over. She was taller, about 4 inches taller than herself, and she was fuller. She had light brown hair as well as Karalee did and light green eyes.

“You were the girl from the house. Right?”

Karalee nodded, “I am sorry you went through that torment.”

The girl nodded, “I am too. I just wanted to thank you.”

Karalee felt confused, and said, “Thank me? For what?”

“I heard you. When you came inside the house. Most girls are so terrified of Carlos that they do what he wants, but you? You stood up to him. Told him to go ‘f’ himself. I knew in that moment that I would go down fighting. If you could do it, I could too.”

Karalee leaned forward and hugged the girl. “Thank you. You are a strong woman. If you ever need anything, please let me know. My name is Karalee White. What’s yours?”

The girl gave a small smile, “I’m Shelley Washington. It’s so good to meet you. Do you really mean it? That if I need something to call you?”

Karalee nodded, “Of course I do. I can’t imagine what you went through and I hope you know that I will try to do everything I can to help you and the other girls.”

Shelley smiled, “Thank you Karalee.”

Kian came up behind her and Shelley smiled up at him, “You were in the house too, weren’t you?”
