He grinned, “I am going to ask her to marry me ma. Tomorrow. Will you and da come back for a small ceremony in two weeks? I don’t want to wait that long to make her my wife.”
“Of course, darling. We will be there. Do ye still have the ring ye bought for her?”
“Ma, how do you know about her ring?”
She laughed, “I found it, before yer father and I left for Scotland. And before ye left for the academy. I still did yer laundry.”
Kian laughed knowing he had hidden her ring in his sock drawer, “Right. What did you think? Is it her?”
Ailith laughed, “Ye are so cute my boy. Yes. She will love it.”
The ring was a forest green oval emerald in the center and the band was all diamonds that wrapped around it the entire way.
He hoped she would love it. Ailith cleared her throat, “Ask her, and we'll see ye soon. Yer da and I think we will sell the house there. It’s been sad to make that decision, but with all of ye not living there and us as well, we will come and put it on the market after the wedding.”
“Do we need to help with anything? I have my entire crew here that can help.”
“Do ye think you could move the furniture? To Silver Springs? That way if we buy or build a house there some day, we can have it.”
Kian laughed, “Will do.”
“Thank you, Kian. Be safe and good luck. Let me know how it goes.”
He blew his ma kisses, “Will do. Love you.”
“Love ye too.”
He hung up and went back to the bed, slipping the ring on Karalee’s finger and then pulled her into his arms.
Grateful that the day had ended good and not with either of them dead.
He kissed her neck softly and breathed in her scent, shutting his eyes and loving every second of being with her.
