Chapter 19

Karalee

When she woke the next morning, she stretched, and it woke Kian.

He pulled her in tighter to his chest and she lay in his arms, happy to be there. And when she pulled the blankets up to her face something on her left hand caught her eye.

She lifted her hand and when she noticed the stunning ring on her finger, she sat up in shock.

She turned to look down at Kian, who was grinning up at her from his position on the bed.

“Is this what I think it is?”

He grinned bigger, “If you think it’s your engagement ring, you would be right.”

She let out a soft cry and he got off the bed and walked around to her side, dropping to one knee, “I love you angel. I have since I was too young to know what love actually is and yet, as our friendship developed so did my feelings. I loved you for so long that I didn’t even want to fight it. But I did. Let you grow up and become the strong woman I always knew you were. I hope you know how sorry I am for hurting you. And I hope that this ring lets you know that I am still here and will never leave your side again. That you are mine. And I am yours. That I will give you everything you have ever dreamed and more. And that if you say yes, I will love you from this life and into the next.”

She gasped, “Oh Kian. Yes. Yes yes! I love you so much. You are everything to me. I love you, forgive you and want our life. I want the fantasies you have had, and I want the future that we both envisioned. I love you.”

He surged to his feet and then dropped to the bed, kissing her and letting her know with his mouth and body just how much he loved her.

He made love to her once more and then pulled her into the shower, where he made love to her again, before washing her hair and telling her how perfect and beautiful she was.

She couldn’t stop smiling and couldn’t stop loving this man before her.

He was always her knight in shining armor, playing with her and watching over her.

Protecting her from imaginary dragons and very real bullies. Protecting her from himself, wanting her to have the decision for herself.

And that made her love him more. Her own guardian angel.

He called her the angel? Well he was one. She pulled him into her and kissed him hard, “Thank you for being my guardian angel.”

He kissed her back, “You're welcome love.”

When they finally made it downstairs, the guys had bought coffee and doughnuts from the diner she had worked in.

She hugged each one and then showed off her ring.

She needed to call Emery. She'd tried her best to give her best friend the honeymoon she had always wanted to go on, but so much had happened.

So, she pulled out her phone and facetimed Emery.

Her best friend's face filled the screen and Emery grinned at her, then cocked her head, “K, why are you in our old house?”

Karalee laughed, “It’s a long story.”

Emery gestured to her, “Go on. I am ready.”

Karalee told her about Kian and how she had forgiven him and how they were together now. Then she showed Emery the ring which made Emery squeal.

“He has had that thing for years!” She said and Karalee’s jaw dropped, “He has?”

Emery nodded, “Yeah. Since he graduated from high school.”

Karalee felt warm inside knowing that he had thought of her then too.

Then she told Emery about everything else.
