Karalee started, “What? He talked about that with you?”
She shouldn’t be shocked, not this time. Kian apparently wasn’t going to hide his feelings from anyone else. Just her. That thought made her want to laugh because he didn’t really hide his feelings from her either.
She just chose not to see it.
“Um, yeah. He used to tell me all about you when he was tutoring me in the library. I wasn’t great at math and he was. So, he helped. He only told me about you because I wanted to be distracted from my own feelings.”
“Oh?”
Maria laughed, “Yeah, I was sad because my girlfriend didn’t like that I hadn’t told my family about us yet. But my family was really accepting of us, and we got married a few years ago and we just recently adopted a baby boy.”
Karalee let out a startled laugh, “I thought you had feelings for Kian.”
Maria laughed, “I could tell from your face. But nope. I am and was in love with the best girl.”
Karalee smiled, “I am happy for you both. Congratulations on the new baby. That is so exciting.”
Maria grinned, “Thank you. His name is Jace. He is adorable and sweet.”
She pulled out her phone and as Karalee reached for the phone to look at the picture that Maria had pulled up, Maria saw her ring and let out a squeal. “He really did it then? I'm proud of him. He always loved you.”
“I did too.” Maria smiled and after showing Karalee the pictures of her adorable son, Maria hugged her, “Will you send Kathy and I an invite?”
Karalee nodded, “Sure will.”
They exchanged information and Karalee felt light and happy for the first time in a very long time, and as she put her groceries in her car and then drove to the house that always made her feel normal and loved she smiled the entire way.
When she saw Kian, he was laughing with Xavier as they brought out a bed frame and as soon as he saw her, he grinned, and she could see the love in his eyes.
She got out of the car and Kian handed the bed frame off to Gray.
She ran and jumped in his arms.
He laughed, and she kissed him, “What is this all about?”
She looked at his handsome face, “I just love you. And how much you love me. I ran into Maria today.”
“Maria? The girl I used to tutor?”
She nodded, “Yes. I saw her kiss your cheek once, and I was so worried you had feelings for her.”
Kian raised his eyebrows, and she cut him off before he could say anything, “But she just told me that she had asked you about your feelings for me because of her own struggles with her girlfriend. Now wife.”
Kian raised his eyebrow, and she kissed him again, “I love you. So much.”
“I love you too. As soon as we are done with this truck, we'll head back. Are you ready to go back to Silver Springs?”
She nodded, and he said, “When we get back, I am giving you two weeks before we marry.”
She laughed, “That is fine with me.”
Then she helped him, and the guys clean out the house.
Gray and Graham were going to drive the U-Haul to Silver Springs while they drove his car.
The other guys were sad that they couldn’t go with them at the time, but she made them promise that they would come for the wedding.
Which they promised they would be there. And she made them all dinner before they finished packing up everything and then going their separate ways.
Xavier and the rest of the guys all hugged her goodbye and then she and Kian left the town behind.
