Rose
London, England April 1813
Waking in the morning wrapped in Cabe’s arms was the best way to awaken.
She needed to get home, but at the same time, all she wanted to do was linger in his bed.
Sighing, she went to wiggle out of his arms, but they tightened around her.
“Where are you going my love?” He asked in a husky sleep filled voice.
She smiled, “I need to get home. To let my family know what happened. I know Cole probably told them, but I need to get everything out into the open.”
Cabe kissed her neck softly, “Then we shall go. Let me call for a bath, and I will see if you can borrow a dress from my sister by law.”
Rose raised her eyebrow, she remembered him telling her about his family, but with everything that happened, it slipped from her mind.
“Cabe! Do you think they heard us?” She hissed at him and he sat up, pulling her close to him again.
Then he kissed her, “I have no doubts they heard us.”
Rose felt her cheeks go warm and she put her head on his chest. Shaking her head, she said, “Well, that’s simply perfect isn’t it? My mother by law heard us.”
Cabe’s chuckle sounded in her ear and his chest moved with it. She gave a small laugh and kissed his chest softly.
Then she sat up, and put her hands on her waist, trying to look stern. “This isn’t the time to laugh Cabe! We made love several times. If I had known or remembered they were here, I would have been quieter.”
Cabe smirked at her. Then his eyes roamed down her naked body and he reached out and cupped one of her breasts in his hand. He ran his thumb over one of her nipples and she shivered.
His eyes twinkled at her and he pulled her back into his arms. Kissing her forehead, he said, “I don’t believe you would have been quiet love. And that is all right. My family knows about you. Knows how I love you. I am certain my mother has heard Case and his wife. Please don’t be upset love.”
She smiled against his skin again, and sighed, snuggling closer to his chest. Looking up at his beautiful brown eyes, which were smiling down at her she said, “We do need to see my family today. Maybe yours could come with?”
Cabe smiled and kissed her softly. “Of course. Let me see about that bath and those clothes.”
She let him get up and watched him with his crutch as he moved to the bell cord and pulled it.
Even without his prosthetic leg on, Cabe moved fluidly. Smoothly.
She watched his naked form as he made a new fire and pushed open the curtains.
The sun was bright today and Rose thought it was fitting. From the last few days of hell, to now.
It let her know that good things were on the horizon.
She felt a hard kick inside her stomach, and she put her hand over it, feeling it.
“Cabe! Oh! Come quickly!”
Cabe rushed to her side and sat beside her on the bed, his eyes uncertain.
She pulled his large hand to her stomach and placed it where she felt the kicks.
And sure enough, a swift, hard kick came from inside her and Cabe’s eyes went wide.
“Rose! The baby!” He said, awe filling his tone and his face.
She smiled and when another kick came, he grinned. “Strong, like her mother.”
