Smiling, he brought her out onto the deck and with her securely in his arm, with her holding him tightly, he swung them both over to Cabe’s ship.

She squeaked and buried her face in his neck and when he dropped carefully to the deck below, she lifted her head.

“You,” she cleared her throat. “You are very strong sir.”

Brooks laughed, “I would hope so.”

He got her situated in his arms again and brought her to a small cabin.

“Do you wish to find the others? Or would you like some time to yourself?”

She bit her lip and said, “Time to myself is perfect.”

He nodded and put her down in a chair, and then went to leave, not loving that he asked her for time alone.

She put her hand out, “Wait, please don’t leave. Would you stay with me?”

He smiled and shut the door to the cabin. He knelt beside her, and she smiled down at him.

“What is your name?” She whispered and he said, “Brooks. My name is Brooks Parker.”

“What is your name lovely?” He asked and she blushed a bright red.

She looked down and Brooks longed to see her golden eyes again. “Persephone. My name is Persephone Barrett.”

He lifted one of her hands from her lap and kissed it softly.

Loving the feel of her smooth, soft skin under his lips.

“Pleasure to meet you Persephone.”

She gave him a shy smile, “It’s a pleasure to meet you too Mr. Parker.”

Brooks grinned, “Brooks. Please. I insist you call me Brooks.”

Persephone bit her lip for a second and Brooks wanted to lean in and bite it for her. Once again taken aback that this woman made him have such thoughts.

“All right, Brooks. You may call me Seph, or Persephone. Whichever you choose.”

Brooks held back his laugh, “Persephone is beautiful.”

She gave a shy laugh and ducked her head again. Her face once again bright red. “Thank you. And thank you again for rescuing us. For helping me.”

Brooks grinned, “I am here to help my brother find Lily. But I am grateful I was here. To aid you.”

She blushed again and he laughed, “It was my pleasure Persephone. Truly. To help a beautiful woman in need of aid.”

She waved her hand at him, “You are kind.”

Brooks smiled and then he woke from his dream.

He growled as once again the beauty of the love of his life slipped from his grasp.

At least he could dream of her. If that was all he had.

Sitting up in his bed, Brooks ran a hand over his hair and then his face.

He was sick and tired of not having her by his side, but her parents made that dream impossible and she did not want to hurt them.

It was the hardest thing he had ever done. Not go claim her.

Sighing, he stood and walked to the window. Looking out over the buildings of Whitechapel.

One day very soon she was going to be here with him. At his side and in his bed and he could not wait for that day.

She was his wife after all.
