Cabe

London, England Dec 1st 1812

Cabe went around the docks that night, needing the distraction it brought. He could not believe that he had taken Rose at the ball like that. Especially since it was their first time, but he was not going to regret their time together.

It was the most incredible thing to have ever happened to him and it would keep him from going insane with want of her. Or it would not.

He knew now that he had her it would be that much worse. Now that he knew the taste of her, how she looked when she reached her peak, and how it felt to have his cock buried deep inside her lush, wet body.

He groaned and shook his head. He needed to focus on finding the Renegade. Looking into any and all of the establishments he could, trying to find any piece of information he could.

But after a few hours, he had no luck. No one was talking. They either had no idea who the Renegade was, or they were not telling him.

Cabe wanted to yell. He was beyond frustrated at all of the people who kept giving him such grief.

Did they not know how horrible the Renegade was? How he would not hesitate to kill each of them?

Cabe sighed and walked toward the last place he had written on his list, hoping against hope he would find something. A clue, or the first sign of the man he sought.

An older looking prostitute with greying hair, missing teeth, and dirty clothes was standing next to the building when he walked up and she sidled up next to him, “Hi there luv, ya lookin’ for some company? A quick tumble? Just a copper is all I need to show you a good time.”

He shook his head and pushed past the woman, not interested in anything she had to offer. She grabbed his arm, and he looked down at her, shocked.

“You mightn’t want to go in there, luv. There is darkness about, and it will come to call if you go in those doors.”

Cabe looked down at her, “What does that mean?”

She shook her head and lowered her voice, “There’ve ben rumors of a man who sails the seas. Ones that’ve been spread far and wide in these docks. And with good reason luv. He’s got a vicious countenance he does and has not been kind to anyone who hasn’t given him the information he wants. He’s been searching for a man. He’s a tale of the one who got away.”

Cabe went still, and she pushed onward. “He’s come here but doesn't stay long. If’n ya go in there, they’s know that you’s searching for him. Him’s was here not long ago. Do ya truly wish to bring that to ya? He’s an evil man.”

Cabe nodded, “I know he is. If he has been here just hours ago that is what I need to know. Thank you. For the warning I mean. Tell me, have you heard of Burk Mason?”

The woman nodded, “Who hasn’t? The Devil has always been good to the people who live here. But I’ve not met him meself. I never had the chance to stay at his home he’s set for women like me.”

Cabe gave her a slight smile, “Burk is a good friend of mine. Tell him Cabe James sent you, and he will help you. Set you up in his house. I promise. Do you wish for another life?”

She nodded, “Who doesn’t?”

He nodded as well, “Go find him. Thank you for warning me.”

She scurried off into the night and Cabe squared his shoulders. He needed to go in. To find out if the man was actually the Renegade. And if he was, then Cabe was right. He was here in London.

He walked up the rickety stairs and in the door. The entire room went silent as soon as he walked inside and Cabe slipped the blade he had in his coat, free. Needing the protection of it.

The man at the bar who had been wiping it down cleared his throat and Cabe took another step into the room.

“What can I do fer ya stranger?”

The man said and Cabe stood his ground, “I am looking for information. About a man. I have heard he was here. Tonight.”

The room was still as he spoke, the noise completely gone. The man at the bar shook his head, “Ya don’t want that kind of information. Trust me on that one mate.”

Cabe tilted his head up a fraction, “I don’t want it, I need it. Tell me what I need to know, and you never have to see me again.”

The man sighed, “All right, on your head then.”

He gestured Cabe forward and Cabe walked slowly toward him, not letting go of the blade in his hand.
