He hated that he had not been able to see Rose today and longed to see her face and hold her in his arms.
He tucked that thought away and went back home. Needing to finish his letters and to make certain his plan was in order. It was important. Possibly the most important letters and plans of his life.
He would make certain they were perfect before they left.
And in order to do that, he needed some time away from Rose.
She was not a distraction, but he just needed to make certain he was ready.
If he wanted to make it back to her, then this was his penance. Not being able to see her as much as he wanted.
That was difficult too for him. Because he just wanted to spend his last days with the woman he loved.
Cabe went back into his office, where the fire was lit in the grate and he lit as many branches of candles as he could.
He would be working for a few more hours yet. He needed all the light he could get.
