Cole sighed, “I knew he was stubborn when we first met, but I didn’t know it was this extreme.”
Rose laughed and Cole led her deeper into the room and she sat down on the settee with Rhia.
Rose adored her sister by law and hugged her tightly. “How are you today Rhia?”
Rhia smiled, “I am fine. How are you doing today? I noticed you at Penelope’s house. You seemed rather far away.”
Rose sucked in a breath, not expecting to be caught at not paying attention with their discussion.
Rhia touched her hand, “If you don’t wish to tell me, I understand. I just worry about you. You have seemed sad, and I know it is not like you.”
Rose gave her a small smile, “Thank you Rhia, you are sweet to me. I just was lost in my head and sometimes it’s hard to get back.”
Rhia squeezed her hand, “I think it is more than that, and when you are ready to tell me, I am here to listen.”
Rose gave Rhia’s hand a squeeze and they all talked about Penelope and their court date.
When the doors opened and Burk and Lily came in with huge smiles on their faces and a ring on Lily’s finger, Rose wanted to cry.
She was so happy for her sister. Beyond that. Everyone got hugs and they all gave the couple their congratulations.
Rose went to bed that night happy. She needed to keep that in her head. She could be happy if Cabe was not by her side.
