Cabe
London, England Dec 1812
Cabe did not sleep again. He knew that Rose and her family went and saw the Duchess yesterday.
He had stressed over it, worried about what would happen.
Hoping it would work out in their favor. Wishing that for them. He only wanted good things for them, and it had been hard to stay away.
He loved them all, they had all been so good to him and while he had helped them, he had gained so much more in return.
Cabe sat up in his bed, rubbing his eyes. He had not slept much over the last few days and it was getting to him.
His eyes hurt and his body was tired. He knew that the only time he would sleep was when this was done.
He had made the plans that would hopefully come to fruition and he would be able to rid the world of the abomination that was the Renegade.
Cabe had gone over them again and again, wanting to know them backward and forward and then some.
He also did not want anyone to get their hands on the plans, so he kept them locked in a drawer in an insignificant room in his house.
He would show them to Nathaniel and go over in detail everything they needed to know and then they would burn them.
A knock sounded on the door to his bedchamber and he heard his butler call out, “My lord, I apologize for waking you, but a letter came for you.”
Cabe swung his good leg off the bed and reached for his breeches.
After pulling them on, he reached for the crutch, not needing his prosthetic right now.
He opened the door and his butler handed him the sealed letter. It bore Aidan’s seal and Cabe shut the door, walking back over to his bed and sitting down on it.
He ripped through the seal and read the letter,
Cabe,
I hope all is well with you. I wanted to let you know what happened with the Duchess yesterday and ask you to stand with us tomorrow as we go to free Jacob. We need all the support we can get and with you on our side, I know that it will help our case. We will meet at the courthouse tomorrow morning, at 8 a.m. sharp. We hope to see you there and count you as a member of our family.
Best Regards,
Aidan
Cabe smiled. He would be there to support them no matter what.
It was the least he could do.

The next morning, Cabe got dressed in his best suit and cravat, combed his hair back and was glad that his butler had made certain his Hessians gleamed.
He looked in the mirror, studying his face. He had small scars on his face that thankfully had faded and become nothing more than white tiny lines on his face.
And he knew he was a handsome man, as many women had commented on it over the years, but he never gave them much thought. Nor did he want to hear their compliments and ignored them all.
He had seen Rose look at him in Aidan’s sitting room and watch him from across his ship and he was glad. He wanted her eyes on him.
Taking a deep breath, he walked out of his front door and to the waiting horse that was held in the hands of a stable boy.
“Thank you, Stephen.” The boy nodded and Cabe swung up into the saddle.
